Welp, the #pixiegrowout project has ended. I needed to feel like myself as I start a new project tomorrow: treatment for breast cancer, specifically Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), which was discovered in a routine mammogram. People. GET YOUR MAMMOGRAMS. The good news is that they caught it very early, and DCIS is super treatable. I get surgery tomorrow, followed by radiation. This is not the summer I’d planned for, but here we are! I’m pretty much back to the length I had before I chopped it all off in 2022. Im loving it this time. There’s a few differences: In 2022 I hadn’t figured out consistently which colors look best on me with the gray hair. Since then I have. Having the right colors in your wardrobe makes ALL the difference between feeling old and tired or vibrant and beautiful #2 I now have someone I trust to cut my hair when it’s longer on a consistent basis and keep it shaped will while it’s growing. In 2022 it was just too thick and bulky. This is soft and fun! I can almost… ALMOST… Relax in the salon chair now which is a HUGE step. I’ve even gotten to the point where I don’t HAVE to show five million pictures. I can describe it and he does it beautifully. If you are in Houston go see @alanhuesalon . Hair grow out…. I have been officially growing my hair out again (started over after a bleach fail that broke off a lot of hair in the front). The top has been growing out but the big step I took in July was to stop shaving the sides and back. I looovveee shaved hair but the reality is…. I am not a stylist and I should lot be trusted with razors and as my husbands MS has seemed to progress getting out to get my hair done needs to be spaced out a bit. Let me be clear, I am growing out my hair because I want to. One of the pros of doing this was it didn’t require as much up keep. I stay close to home as much as possible as my husband continues to regain strength and adjust to is present circumstances. I think I am past the most awkward phase of grow out or I am able to cover it up. I am in no rush except that I’m do want to enjoy each phase of the grow out. I have found an amazing shampoo and conditioner that has turned my hair around. It is healthy and vibrant with added volume. I am by no means a beauty influencer but one that has benefited from those that are. Slowly but surely this hair is growing. I’ve been trimming the back about every 2 weeks. I am very close to where I would like it to be before I start growing it past this length. Also I’ve been wearing it wavy as it grows. It’s easy to just spritz it with water, diffuse it and go. I do have many days of wanting to cut it off but I’ve made a pact with myself to have to give it a month before doing anything drastic.
