*4 weeks post op update* I feel like I’ve finally turned a corner this last week! My mental health is in a better place and I’ve made noticeable progress in multiple areas. I’m walking over 5 miles/day at almost my preop pace and am getting out much more. My leg aching/throbbing pain is still bothering me (can get pretty bad at night) so today I joined @officialsportsacademy recovery center so I can start leg compression therapy. As I sit here, trying to heal, i am realizing that I'm not perfect, I have insecurities, trust issues, I get jealous, I over think everything and some days I dont think I'm good enough. I'm not afraid to admit it. At the same time I know I am amazing in many ways too. I have a huge heart with some scars, a soul that has been through hell and back. Not every day is my best. Some days I mess up, but I learn from them. I want to grow and be the best version of myself. Life is a journey and with it, it's OK to have flaws and imperfections. They make me who I am. I will embrace my struggles and strengths that shape my character. I am a work in progress and constantly evolving. I believe in self awareness and the willingness to learn. Today I’m 11days post op and had my 1st follow up with my surgeon. He ordered an x-ray (1st slide). It blows me away to see that! And took off all my bandages so I finally got a glimpse of the incision sites. ⛔️ (Slides 2 & 3 are of my abdomen, slide 4 is of my back). My Dr is a little concerned that I’m still having some “achy” nerve pain down my legs so he ordered me a CT Scan that I’ll hopefully get in the next couple of days… so of course I’m gonna be super anxious until I can get back to him with those results. HUNTSMAN STANDOUT PLAYERS \\ The Johnston Sisters These young ladies have been putting in the work for several months. Jordan suffered an ACL injury last spring. She did what she could do. Sometimes it was a mental training. Then it was basic ball handling & form shooting and it continued to progress as she made improvements in physical therapy. Jenna (Featured on the left) has continued to work as well. These are honestly a delight to be around. Their primary sport is soccer. But they have a desire to be the best version of themselves for their teams. Training weekly isn’t easy. It takes commitment and sacrifice. But they did it! Regardless of the weather. Not only are they standout athletes they are outstanding in the classroom. Jordan has a 4.66 gpa and Jenna has a 4.0 gpa. These young ladies exude hard work. Hard work is such an important topic. It’s all about putting in the effort and dedication to achieve your goals. Whether it’s in sports, academics, or any other area of life, hard work can make all the difference. 6 weeks post op.. So many have reached out wondering what is going on with me. Sooo I figured it was time to do a post… But first, I have to thank all those who have checked in on me & have been so kind and supportive! I have so much gratitude for all the love I have been shown in the last several weeks. Words can not begin to express to those how much it has meant to me. Forever grateful & so much love for you all.🫶🏼 For the last 6 years I have dealt with knee dislocations in both of my legs. Several times a year, some worse than others. I knew with this last occurrence I couldn’t keep doing what wasn’t working. I’ve tried all the things. Results from a recent MRI showed that I have no groove which affects the way my knees sit & tracks and my patella sits too high and out. I knew surgery was always inevitable… So mid December I had MPFL reconstruction done to correct my ligaments needed to hold my patella in place/for stability caused by my numerous dislocations along with the Fulkerson to realign my knee properly. I will have my other knee done in a couple of months. This has been the most challenging time physically & mentally. Anyone who knows me, knows my love for dance. The thought of not being able to was depressing..is depressing. Dance is a huge part of who I am. It is what I love. It’s who God made me to be. But I know this is just a moment. A pause. A time of reflection and change in perspective. Dance will take on an entirely different meaning for me when I am able to move freely without fear or worry of “the next time”. I’m very hopeful I will be able to ease back into dance in the fall. Baby steps. I am grateful! When I wasn’t feeling 💯 I had great help! Day 2 #road2recovery we had a lesson in sustainable consumption. We made some fresh squeezed OJ with ginger, & our Dr.Sebi Bolingo Dimension Cayenne 90K. I love the Omega mastication juicer. It produced the smoothest fullest juice I may have ever tasted. It was well worth the investment when you feel that boost of energy take over. The pulp will be dehydrated to make natural fruit snacks. The skins will be doused with essential oils Of oregano and eucalyptus for steam facial aromatherapy. We even held back some orange juice to make our favorite crèmesicle smoothie. Can’t wait to share the smoothie recipe with you all. Nothing went to waste!
don’t let “perfect” be the enemy of “good”. January started strong both with running and skiing, but things don’t always go as planned. I’ve had a major setback due to a shoulder injury. It has been limiting all activity, except for light running.. With rest, physiotherapy and easy activity, I’m hoping for a prompt recovery to be able to attend the 160km Canadian Ski Marathon! We’ll be back stronger !! This isn’t a perfect scenario for my first CSM but I’m optimistic about what’s coming: 18 days of what feels right, proper nutrition, rest and 💥 race day ⚡️⚡️⚡️. Surgery next Tuesday!! I’m super bummed out and have been getting a little depressed about this injury, but now at least I can start the healing process. My Orthopedic surgeon said that some of the tendon is still in tact so that’s good I guess. Have to find the bright in every cloudy circumstance. #road2recovery

I started 2023 with only 7 fights to my name, 2 of which were exhibitions from 2019, and I ended the year with 21. First of all, thank you to everyone who was with me on this journey. Whether you’re new to it or you’ve been on it for a while, I appreciate you wholeheartedly. I love you all. Especially to my coaches, teammates, friends, family, and my lovely girlfriend, Madeline. Your support means the world to me. I love you all. 14 fights in a year. All except 2 being in open class as well. Some of them back to back. Some of them main events. Some of them against fighters with 100+ fights. All for the experience. All because it’s what I love to do and I believe in myself. I strived to always be my best self. To embody the Mamba Mentality like my idol, Kobe Bryant. To be absolutely RELENTLESS in my pursuit of greatness. To Point and Kill. I also did it because I knew I had a lot to learn. And the best way to learn is in the ring. And I learned a lot. I learned a lot about the sweet science, but most of all I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I need to go at my own pace and not worry about how fast everyone else seems to be going in relation to me. I have my own story to write. It’s going to take as long as it needs to take. I don’t need to catch up to the guys with 100+ fights in the span of only 2 years. That’s just not how my story goes. I’m gonna do things my own way. That is what you will see from me in 2024. I will take control. I will show you that if you believe in yourself and work hard enough, ANYTHING is possible.
