When we think about Nissan, what comes to mind first? Skyline? GT-R? Silvia? R32? R34? 300 ZX? _______(fill the void)? Anyway, hardly any of the following four will be the first choice, yet they represent some of the nicest retro designed cars out there - Nissan Pike cars, developed by the Nissan Pike Factory, a group of out of the box thinking designers, who dared to make something different. Four models have been developed: Be-1 (here in pink), Figaro (green), Pao (blue) and S-Cargo (yellow). Four odd but amiable vehicles which are hard not to be attracted to. Although Nissan Be-1 and Nissan Pao have been released in 1:64 scale many years ago by TLV (Be-1) and Konami (Pao), nobody bothered to make the open top Figaro and S-Cargo, two most eye-catching models of the group. Finally, all four have been released as vending machine toys. While Aoshima makes the Be-1, Figaro and Pao, Stasto released the S-Cargo. Stasto also released the Figaro with an opening roof cover, which will be addressed in some later post. All of them are available in multiple colors. Their only letdown is the fact they’re all plastic - if that matters to you. Otherwise their shapes are excellent, the lines are precise and crisp, the colors and paint quality are top notch. If it wasn’t for their featherweight, the three Aoshimas could be confused with diecast cars judging by their appearance. It will be interesting to see if Tomica Limited Vintage decides to take on this topic in future. I’ve always loved a quirky vehicle and Heidi wasn’t our first. Margot the Escargot (S Cargo) was the van that I used when I had my grooming salon in Windsor. We used to love nipping about Windsor in her, picking up dogs and getting waves from the locals. I also once had a special request from Windsor Castle to collect one of Her Majesties dogs from a certain location within the grounds, at a specific time so that The Queen could look out of the window at breakfast to see the van. Apparently, she loved it and it really made her giggle to see her beloved Vulcan 🐶 being bundled inside 💛 The S-Cargo was introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1989, was originally marketed without Nissan branding and was available by reservation only. Over its two-year production run, 8,000 were produced, so she was pretty rare! I sold her along with my business and have always regretted not keeping her. Если взять что-нибудь из более известных аналогов, можно сравнить ее с моделью Citroen 2VC. В любом случае, это был весьма симпатичный автомобиль с оригинальным расположением передних фар. Базовым вариантом окраски кузова считался белый цвет, а вот что касается оттенков, то покупателю предлагалось определить его самому (система «custom paint»). Багажное отделение имело довольно гладкие боковые стенки, поэтому их можно было разрисовать, как угодно, или, к примеру, поместить рекламу своего предприятия. Индивидуальности хватало и внутри салона. Например, приборные указатели располагались поверх передней панели салона и по форме напоминали будильник. Это была всего лишь приборная панель, но она была изготовлена столь умело, что вполне могла быть стать украшением жилой комнаты. Ручка переключения скоростей была вынесена на переднюю панель перед водительским сидением, так, как впоследствии стали практиковать в минивэнах. Имелись варианты машины, укомплектованные нарядными сидениями диванного типа, а также фургоны с мягким брезентовым верхом. 1991 Nissan S-Cargo The Nissan S-Cargo is a small retro-styled van manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan from 1989 to 1991, and originally marketed solely in Japan at their Nissan Cherry Stores. The exterior styling of the S-Cargo was inspired by the Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette delivery van, and interior styling borrowed a Citroën-style single-spoke steering wheel. The name was a double entendre, standing for “Small Cargo” and sounding like “escargot”, the French word for snail. 1989 Nissan S-Cargo (G20). . After showing a prototype S-Cargo in October '87, at the 27th Tokyo Motor Show, the production version was finally announced in Japan the 23th of January, '89. The weird S-Cargo's look kinda have some Citroën 2CV Fourgonette sauce on it. It was ideal for commercial purposes. It attracted the attention over the business using it due to its peculiar neo-retro design. The S-Cargo was one of the 4 "boutique" cars called the "Pike Factory cars" and was apparently developed upon a B11 Sunny California/AD Wagon/Van platform. The Pike cars were limited production models sold via a lottery between the orders received. Around 10.000 S-Cargo units were manufactured between January '89 and December '90. The S-Cargo was moved by a carbbed 4-cylinder 1.5L. SOHC 8-valve E15S unit able to pump 73ps (JIS) to the front wheels and exclusively mated to a 3-speed autobox. Length:3,48m. Weight:970kg. The S-Cargo came standard with colour-keyed 13" steel wheels, power steering and A/C. Optionally, it could be ordered with a powered canvas top or side oval windows. The S-Cargo was initially available in white (598), gray (KJ0), beige (EH0) and olive (EH3) but some other colours were also used.
