I read it in one day. It is a historical fantasy set in Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. This book is filled with the most interesting characters that I enjoyed seeing develop throughout the story. The main character, Luzia, is a witty, strong willed and determined servant with magical abilities. The family she works for forces her to use her magic competitively to gain favor with influential people. She has to keep her Jewish heritage hidden in order to survive. I stressed until the very last page over how it would end. The ending was PERFECT!

This was our first show ever, ten years ago. I was pregnant for Jane and also had a house full of babies w a stomach bug and my wonderful sister was watching them. Our neighbors all came out and we played covers in front of shelves full of organic jams. After art, my favorite meditative practice is working outside. I can get lost in hours of shoveling mulch, gardening, and landscaping. I’d rather spend 6 hours spreading wood chips than 1/2 an hour in the gym. Anyone else?! 😂🙃🤷🏻♀️ This weekend I got to spend time with some of my favorite humans at the @artfarmserenbe Hay Day event where we spread wildflower seed-laden hay across the meadow to help restore the field with native plants. 🌼🌸🌺 The rest of the week I’ve spent every opportunity working at the new house. We trenched 500 feet for water lines, assembled the pipe, and I spent an entire day installing insulation, moving dirt and spreading mulch. 💪😅 I could barely move by the end of the day, but it was blissful and my body thanks me every time I work that hard! It is also a time for contemplation and meditation. When my body is busy, my mind may find itself in a loop of anxious thoughts. Sometimes I will bring my attention to the objects in front of me, naming them: “shovel, dirt, mulch” to come back to the moment. I have noticed that this season of my life is giving me the opportunity to speak up for myself. I am noticing and questioning my fears around saying things authentically and confidently. As a child, silencing myself and suppressing the expression of my needs and feelings served me well. It helped me survive. And now I’d like to learn to speak up, stand up, and take no sh*t. People who are used to me accepting gaslighting and bulldozing don’t know what to do with new Morgan, and that’s ok. When I kindly stand my ground with self-love and protection, I walk away from interactions feeling much better than I have for years. I have always frozen during confrontations. I would do my best to share my feelings or talk it out, but I could be bullied easily and would shut down. Now I’m practicing changing my side of the pattern, and it feels empowering and authentic. ✨💫 How can you speak up more authentically? A little jaunt with my husband this weekend .He's at a conference and I of course am out exploring. Serenbe is a beautiful spot in Chattahoochee Hills, GA. I was greeted to a sweet scent of old fashioned roses and peonies in bloom.Iris, viburnum, yarrow and native azalea creating a verdant backdrop along the paths. I stumbled on the most exquisite red peony it's petals like a lush velvet. I do not believe I have ever seen this shade. I'll be having lunch at the Farmhouse, the aroma of freshly baked biscuits and scalloped potatoes are so tempting. Happy weekend.🌿🪻🌷🌼🌸🌱
