My love for theatre began in church. The Christmas musical and Summer musical were the highlights of my year, and it was there that I not only learned how to perform but also so many great stories of our faith. That’s why the annual children’s musical at Grace is now one of the highlights of my adult years. These incredibly talented kids work so hard to put on a great show for our community, and I am so grateful that I get to be a part of it. Thank you to the amazing students, volunteers, parents, and leaders that made this happen this weekend. Our Island Mobile Food Pantry is such an incredible blessing to our county. Baldwin County is a BIG county. While we don’t have any homeless (thank God), we do have needy families. This past Friday, September 8, a deathly earthquake hit Morocco, killing about 2500 people. Those who survived are now having to deal with the fact that their houses, as well as their belongings, are destroyed. On Wednesday August 16, our Christian brothers and sisters in Pakistan were attacked by an enraged mob, claiming that the Christians had committed blasphemy, which is punishable by death. The Christians, sensing the growing tension, fled their homes, with their absences resulting in their churches and houses being robbed and burned. Despite that tumultuous week, we recently received word that our our brothers and sisters in Pakistan held their first church service since the attack this past Sunday, August 27. This gathering in faith has filled us with much hope, however, we ask that you continue praying for those in Pakistan, as they are still receiving death threats because of their Christianity. We are incredibly thankful for your donations and prayers. While funds have been raised and sent, there is still such a large need for food, clothing, cots, and other emergency supplies. A few of my favorites from my very short England trip. ✨ England was cool and all, but my favorite was the people I was so privileged to finally meet. I have never felt so fully loved and welcomed in by what should have been complete strangers. In reality they weren't. In reality they are brothers and sisters in Christ and I felt it deeply. We laughed so hard and played hard and worked hard. I loved every single soggy minute of it! 😄 I'll have more organized thoughts about how incredible my trip was but for now, snuggled up in my couch back at home I just want to say thank you and I miss you all already!
Amazed by what God did this weekend at Rise Church! 19 people decided to declare their faith through baptism. A father baptized his son. Another father baptized his daughter. A grandfather baptized his granddaughter. One man said he was feeling completely lost in life and visited Sunday morning for the first time. He heard the Gospel, decided to follow Jesus, and was baptized. He was lost, but now he’s found! A man in his 70’s was baptized and wept as he came out of the water, realizing the life-changing power of Christ’s love for him. A family of 4 all responded to the Gospel at the same time and came forward to be baptized together. Every person who decided to be baptized this weekend matters to God. And they matter to us. They each have a different story, they've each lived very different lives, but they are all equal at the foot of the cross. And Jesus has saved them. Jesus still saves today. And He’s still the only way. This will never get old. I’ll never take this for granted. God is so faithful. I love Jesus. And I love our community. #ThisIsTheChurch #JesusStillSaves #LoveMyChurch
