Day 72/110 - Saturday 23 March 2024 (I know, still behind …) After returning to the ship we just spent the afternoon relaxing before we took an Uber to the neighborhood where we would have dinner. We had skipped the World Cruise event this evening, because we already had dinner reservations at Taïrroir, arguably the best restaurant in Taiwan that had recently received their third Michelin star. With only eight tables it’s not easy to get in, so we had made the reservation some time ago. We had a lovely time and just after we said that we probably wouldn’t see anyone from the ship here, Susan & John walked in, accompanied by their son and his wife (who live here). There would be so much more to say then: Thank you so much for this brilliant evening!! After all our restaurant visits it is not easy to get us really deep surprised! But the house itself, the different rooms and szenarios, the ultra friendly staff and a menue, far away from a lot of similar decorated colleagues, is definitely in all positive ways: unique. Sensfully arranged, highly comlex, very detailled composed dishes. One after the other a tastebud sensation! And everything for a more than reasonable price! Back in the summer you may remember we took delivery of some local Ash logs and Sean began turning them green...well here’s where they ended up! Very honoured to say we were directly commissioned by @helenedarrozeattheconnaught to create a set of bread bowls for the restaurant. In keeping with their beautiful interiors, these were to be refined whilst keeping a natural character. This was one of our biggest projects last year, as not only did they head to the London restaurant but their sister restaurant @royalmansour in Marrakech! Swipe to the end to see a little of what our workshop looked like back in the summer 🫠 We were involved in every single stage of creating these, from sourcing and choosing the logs, through to wet-turning them, drying them and eventually adding branding and finish. Watching them head out of the door after months of work was nerve-wracking to say the least! A huge thank you to the wonderful team at @helenedarrozeattheconnaught for the commission - and on recently retaining your 3 Michelin stars!
