Today we worked a little bit on Marsh’s reactivity around noisy, aggressive dogs. We found a yard with an angry tyrant of a Chihuahua who fancied himself king of the world. I left Mavis on a down-stay in the shade and moved Marsh away from he dog so he could focus. Once I had his attention I rewarded his ability to block out the other dog and remain engaged with me. By the end he was only 6 feet from the Chihuahua doing sits and recalls!! I wish I could have gotten a video of him being a good boy, but Mavis sucks at videography. 🤣 I was SO proud of this boy!! I think Mavis’s calm, neutral personality around other dogs also helps.
