📍Witham Way Country Park & River Witham Walk📍 Now I’m not one for a linear walk. The idea of getting to a point and just turning round, does not appeal to me. However, put a cafe or interesting find at the turning point and I’ll see you there 😏 We started this walk by parking at Witham Way Country Park and walking through this quintessential park on the outskirts of Boston, providing a local quiet space to get away from the town hustle and bustle. With fully accessible paths, it’s perfect for all abilities. They also have a nice picnic area allowing you to sit and take in all the local wildlife the park has to offer 🦋 If you walk through the park you can get to the river and the Water Rail Way cycle route, which runs all the way to Lincoln. We hit the path and headed towards Anton’s Gowt, as we heard about this unique cafe along the river that’s just reopened after a winter shut down. The cafe is called The Dinky Green Kitchen and of course it will be getting its own post 👀 The walk from the park to Antons Gowt is roughly 5km, the paths are perfect for walking or even cycling. 📍St Mary’s Lighthouse, Whitley Bay! A beautiful, Local Nature reserve supporting the protection of Grey Seals and various Sea Birds! This tiny Island is linked to the Mainland by a short causeway which becomes fully submerged at high tide. The lighthouse became a Grade 11 listed building in 2012 and no longer a working lighthouse, however its revolving beam was reused used in 1886 on a platform off the North Sea. In recent years it has become a visitors centre, for a small fee which supports the upkeep of the building, you can climb to the top, visit the small museum, cafe and gift shop and people even get married there! Caistor is our local market town and what a town it is! Last weekend we took the dog for a walk around the town, mainly because the children wanted an @thechooweecookiecompany cookie from @caistorarts After a wander across a few fields and an explore through small and beautiful nooks and cranny’s we headed to the Arts and Heritage Centre for our reward! Callander Park Woods📍 A gorgeous local walk for us which has lots of different routes and paths to walk. The park itself is a beautiful walk but if you head into the woods it’s much more peaceful & there is plenty of different routes you can take with shorter or longer trails. We had pretty much the whole place to ourselves with only a few walkers passing us so Prim was able to be off lead for a bit meaning she tired herself out before we headed into town to visit my mum at her work at the Acoustic Cafe for some well deserved lunch. And yes Prim had her own plate of bacon & sausages! Was lovely to have some sunshine at the weekend even if it did only last the one day, we really made the most of it!
