Hong Kong Island est l’île historique de Hong Kong. C’est le centre économique et politique. Très vallonnée, seule une partie de l’île s’est développée ! Les rues montent en pentes très raides au milieu des buildings, des buildings, des buildings et des b… Il y a même des systèmes de couloirs entièrement automatisés, tapis roulants et escalators pouvant nous amener d’une rue à une autre ou plutôt d’un centre commercial à un autre. - Kowloon De ce côté, les magasins et les marchés pullulent et il est possible d’acheter tout et surtout n’importe quoi à toute heure du jour et de la nuit. I have been traveling now for over fifteen years. In this short span of time I have watched the world globalize and slowly meld into something I’m beginning to not recognize. I’ve watched culture begin to fade as we loose our older generations. I sit back and wonder where our world is heading. Yet, I still see glimpses of the past in many destinations. On my last visit to Hong Kong a few weeks ago I saw much change, but also many attempting to maintain what the residents of Hong Kong keep so sacred, their identity. 🇭🇰天婦羅次郎Tempura Jiro | 中環 Central 勞動節當然要好好慰勞工作辛勞嘅自己。天婦羅午餐有兩款，我欣賞小的套餐可給客人自由度追加矜貴食材，自然也可以讓客人控制整個餐的份量。師傅把天婦羅做成藝術品，到底如何控制每件天婦羅的型態依然是一個謎。我由其喜歡炸蝦，一隻可愛的拱橋炸蝦。白魚也不錯。追加食材海膽、牛肉、蠔和大蜆既新鮮又炸得乾脆，一點都不油膩。上等天婦羅就該如此。 Lunch on a public holiday, the shop got full quite early. Two choices of set tempura lunch menu, I liked the half set version where you pick and choose additional items that favour you also leaving the overall quantity flexible. Absolutely tempura art it was, not sure how they managed to actually shape each item but I liked the way the shrimp arched. Top selection of uni, oysters, beef, clams and white fish, each dish was crisp and fresh but not oily at all. Quality tempura should be like this. Wonderful. I made the epic journey from Pui O to Ping Che the other day, one remote corner of Hong Kong to another. It involved three separate MTR trains sandwiched between two bus rides to cover a distance of about 75 kilometres and took a bit less than two hours. It was worth the effort for Wan Chuen Sin Koon, a Taoist monastery at Ping Che, is perhaps one of the prettiest in Hong Kong. . It belongs to the Chunyang Taoist sect, a branch of the Quanzhen school, which was founded in the mid-nineteenth century on Xiqiao Mountain near Nanhai City, Guangdong. It moved to Hong Kong in 1944 but the current premises have no historical significance. The land was acquired in 1975 and used as a religious retreat but it wasn’t until 2000 that construction got underway in earnest. . The monastery buildings are set in spacious grounds with lotus ponds and chrysanthemum gardens, though neither will be in bloom until late Summer or early Autumn when exhibitions of the latter are held. Also in the grounds is a large stele that contains the full text of Laozi's Tao Te Ching. . Wan Chuen Sin Koon is also famous for its excellent vegetarian lunches served between 12.00 and 14.00.
