World Labyrinth Day is an annual event taking place on the first Saturday of May (5/4/24) and is sponsored by The Labyrinth Society as a worldwide action to “walk as one at 1pm” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy across the globe. Gives whole new perspective to “May the 4th be with you” posts this year ☮️✨ Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the world participate in this moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience. Walking a labyrinth, taking the twists and turns that symbolize the twists and turns of life, one allows distractions to fall aside, making way to focus on the intention (peace) found in the center, give gratitude once you reach the center and then reflection on the path as you walk the twists and turns back out. But I really enjoyed the company of @ka_lando (who didn't finish the walk), @victorio.hyacinth, and first timer @belovedjowi, and many pilgrims and faithfuls from all walks of life. This pilgrimage will be a daylong, 22-mile walk, broken into 5 shorter legs and marking the distance from Gaza City to the Rafah crossing refugee camp. It will begin at 7am in Berkeley and end at 7pm in Alameda and include scheduled prayer stops along the way, as well as visits to various faith communities who have raised banners for ceasefire. This Lent, a global movement of Christians is doing walks all over the world in support of peace, and we're organizing a walk in the Twin Cities on March 23rd. We'll be starting at sunrise at Brooklyn Park River Park and heading south along the Mississippi River, ending around sunset near Bdote, the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. The whole walk will follow paved, accessible paths along River Road, making stops at Kroening Nature Center, Boom Island Park, Minnehaha Falls, and churches along the route. Meet James! James is a multi-talented creative, who has spent close to 20 years as a chef, storyteller, and marketing consultant, and his mission is to bring people together through unique and meaningful experiences, whether that's food, travel, live events, or film. In 2020, James and his friend, Paul Chavez, walked across the United States, from San Francisco, California, to Virginia Beach, Virginia, all in the name of peace. Three years later he backpacked around the island of Oahu to raise money for clean drinking water in Africa. We recently recorded an episode of the LMNTL Conversations podcast where James talked more about what led him to these experiences and how it’s changed his life and the impact it’s had on others.
