Your first meal of the day sets the blood sugar “tone” for the rest of the day. It’s been a while since I spoke on the subject of blood sugar regulation. Since it ties into stress I thought it appropriate to bring it up (again). If you start with sugar you’re essentially jumping onto a blood sugar roller coaster for the rest of the day. This roller coaster creates waves of fatigue, causing sugar cravings (caffeine too). Blood sugar spikes cause a cascade of events in the body, much like external stress will cause when you experience a stressful event or emotion. Flooding your system with sugar sets off an inflammatory response. I’m not saying not to enjoy a sweet breakfast - you can! It’s about knowing how to manage and prevent a sugar spike. Back to nursery with health coaching After a crazy busy week, it ended yesterday with a client close to my heart. My little boys nursery - Puddleducks Haslingden I couldn't refuse this one. The whole team did the Wheel of Life, defined 3 health goals each and enjoyed sharing and listening to discussions about holistic health - physical, mental & emotional health. What a great employer! They are really serious about supporting their teams on all things Health & Wellbeing. A team of 12 in total and it worked really well. You dont need to be a huge corp or have big budgets to spend. You don't need big meeting rooms. You can still take small steps - Health Steps - to invest in health and well-being at work. This was a bespoke piece of work to suit their wants, needs & budget. Sunscreen and hat, but still so happy to be out and about for the day. Even happier about my afternoon nap😴 This Lupus journey has softened me in the best of ways. It did when I was younger, and I can feel it happening again. Strengthening and softening. Slowing me down. To breathe. To think. To grow. To Reflect. To Rest. To Research. I can't wait to share everything I have been researching and learning about Lupus, specifically how to combat flares. I even found some new things you can do to minimize the negative effects of prednisone, AND I feel like it's already helping me. When it comes to a flare you are battling lupus, and the prednisone and medication side effects. It's tricky. You have to understand it if you want to defeat it. 💜 So I'll be sharing things I have been learning. I'm feeling more energy and inspiration And with this feeling of inspiration, I can tell my brain fog is lifting more and more every day. And I'm feeling like myself again. Healing is never linear, but I am so grateful for today.🙏
