Very humbled to have been asked to ‘flower’ the tables at the incredible @at_chalk for the wonderful Kate & Dave’s joint 40th birthday party yesterday. It's Tracey @mrsmosleysposies here on day 2 showing you our back garden on a very blustery day in Wiltshire! If you're wondering what the car noise is in the background, it's from Castle Combe circuit which is about a mile away. I'll share the front garden tomorrow as I could only upload 10 videos! UPDATE: I'll put the front garden on stories.. I use my whole garden for cutting from, not just the 2 areas of raised beds. We've lived here for 34years, so have a lot of established shrubs to cut from, plus perennials & bulbs that I've planted over the years. We're in a country village, so I try to fit my planting (especially by the boundary overlooking the field) in with the surrounding environment. We have a well grown native hedgerow, where I can cut branches most of the year from Hazel, hornbeam, cornus, & hawthorn plus it's loved by the birds for nesting. Obviously I only snip bits that are protruding during nesting season & always check first. I think the cottage garden style that I love has inspired my floristry style too: I love wild bouquets, including lots of twiggy bits & wild flowers, always pushing what I can add by what I see growing in the fields around me. In fact I've grown to love floristry as much as I love gardening. I've not done any formal training as such, just workshops with other florists I admire, reading great books ( I started flower growing after buying Georgie Newbury's @commonfarmflowers book) & just practicing! The bridal bouquet works hard on the big day and you shouldn’t even have to consider how secure your bouquet is, by using mechanics to keep it firmly in position so it looks it’s best for the whole day you will have a bouquet that keeps its shape beautifully.
