This quaint little fjord on the southern end of Newfoundland gets a whole lot of attention in the summer. Made it down to the Vestfjorden and found a lovely protected anchorage from the northeasterlies. First evening was sooo calm with stunning reflections all round. Then the snow clouds came in and we woke the next morning covered in a thick layer of snow. 2️⃣Anden del af turen fra Göteborg til Køge. Efter 2 timers søvn og ladning kom vi videre i iskold vind og bølger, mod Kullen. Planen var Helsingør eller Mölle havn. Men efter 3 timers kamp mod Kullen måtte vi opgive og søge ind i Torekov. Til gengæld fik vi ladet op med rigeligt søvn og pizza. Dagen efter startede med perfekt vind og båden skød 6,5-7,5 knob💪⛵️ Lige efter Kullen blev vi ramt af hård modstrøm og modvind. Vi kunne kun gå 2 knob mod strømmen med motor, så det blev kryds ned gennem den pænt trafikerede passage ved Helsingør. Vi zigzag’ede mellem nogle kæmpe skibe men efter 4 timer kom vi forbi Kronborg i flot sol. Turen fra Kronborg til Kbh gik perfekt med 6 knob i snit og vi gik ind i Lynetten havn for natten. Sidste stræk på 28 sømil fra Kbh til Køge gik i perfekt vind og fart💪 Turen slutter med 202,5 sømil samlet. Og en masse læring og erfaring. Båden sejler rigtig godt. Og selv om vi pressede riggen hårdere end nødvendigt, virkede den konstant sikker. Found a favourable weather window to push further south towards Lofoten. There is an awesome beauty sailing in this region at this time of year - picture postcard prettiness tinged with a sense of severity and foreboding. Low pressure systems are regular and their reach is not always well predicted, it’s a case of being prepared for anything. Even in good weather, winds can be very unpredictable at the entrance to fjords and along the mountainous coastline. At 69 degrees north we passed Isbjørn (@59northsailing), we have been in contact with her skipper @sailoramtrup for a while now and even have a good friend who has sailed aboard her. It was great to shout greetings to one another as we passed.
