Tourist season is getting underway in Wyoming and it has already been a bumpy start. On Friday, ABC News and the Associated Press ran national stories with the headlines "Animal groups are urging tourists not to visit Wyoming." This as Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming opens for the busy summer season, and according to news agencies, wildlife advocates are leading a call for a boycott of the state over laws that give people wide leeway to kill gray wolves with little oversight. ABC News reports the social media accounts of Wyoming's tourism agency are being flooded with comments urging people to steer clear of the Cowboy State amid accusations that a man struck a wolf with a snowmobile, taped its mouth shut, and showed off the injured animal at a sublette county bar before killing it. In the story that was posted online on ABC News, the executive vice-president of the Wyoming Stock Grower's Association and rancher Jim Magagna was quoted as saying: "This was an abusive action. None of us condone it. It never should, never have been done. So last week, I posted something else on Instagram that grilled my biscuits. I’ve been following it now for almost 2 weeks. Some idiot guy named #CodyRoberts -hit a young female wolf. I don’t know if it was intentional or not while out out in a snowmobile. He then proceeded to take the wolf who is still alive bring her into this bar, called the #greenriverbar in literally in front of a cheering crowd tortured this wolf to death ! WTF😡 I was pissed about it then and I’m still pissed about it now that we live in such an arctic society that anybody would take part torturing an animal is repugnant. But to do it as a form of entertainment in a public setting such as a bar and be allowed to do it is beyond disgusting. #Wyoming Authorities didn’t seem to care much that this happened in this fashion.
