Hi all, the last day is here, for raising the funds to purchase that last farm available before it is finally too late. And I so much wish I could bring some good news, but thanks to the late bidder and the complete silence from everyone who could have helped in any significant way - financially, or to spread the word - we are still nearly 200k off the mark. 💔 The vegan celebrity I mentioned did not talk about Heartstone on her show for some reason, which of course does not help. Just like the silence on Gaza is deafening, the lack of people in positions of power or influence using their tools, skills or connections to help is deafening, too. While I understand there are many, many sanctuaries, rescues, and individual animals - and of course humans - in need, the situation is rarely that disastrous. At this point a huge shoutout to @veganorganicuk and @vivacharity who were kind enough to use their platforms, and the (few) vegan influencer pages and sanctuaries who have shared in their stories, too. 🕊❤️ As always, too much to do to say more; eternal gratitude to those who have done their best to help, and especially those who are still trying. Still a few hours left for that miracle to happen, I guess. 😞 Please be so kind to keep trying! ✨ Be safe y'all. Humankind will have to become like the few of you who have really tried. Balancing the emotional toll of bearing witness to animal suffering alongside the demands of securing funds can engender a sense of overwhelming helplessness. This can translate into elevated stress levels, sleep disruptions, and potential declines in overall mental wellness. The cumulative impact of prolonged financial strains can lead to chronic stress, which subsequently reverberates through mental and physical health. Studies show that animal rescue workers contending with prolonged stress may encounter elevated rates of depression, anxiety disorders, and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The emotional toll resonates akin to the burden of vicarious trauma – the emotional weight born from exposure to traumatic narratives and circumstances. The Journal of Social Work Education underscores that animal rescue workers frequently grapple with elevated stress levels, often exacerbated by financial concerns. A separate investigation published in the Occupational Medicine Journal reveals that animal shelter personnel contend with heightened stress in comparison to the general populace. Our responsibility extends to raising awareness, furnishing resources, and ensuring that animal rescue organisations garner the support and acknowledgment they rightfully deserve.
