Great day as most of it was either downhill or flat! I just can't get over the fantastic roads I've been on during my entire week cycling through France. Only one day left and then I'm off to Switzerland for a slight change of scenery 🗻.

I'm quite impressed with how little rubbish is on the side of country roads in France. England definitely has some catching up to do there. Littering is an offence in both countries and you can face fines if caught, so I don't quite understand why England is so much worse. Maybe it's down to enforcement or education?
The worst thing about littering is cigarette buds. Many smokers, who will have been educated not to litter, don't even think twice about throwing their cigarette buds on the ground. This is a disgrace - as it's the most commonly found form of ocean litter.
Why is littering bad?
- It's bad for wildlife because animals can ingest inediable materials such as plastic. This can either poison the animal or cause it to starve by blocking it's intestinal tract.
- Once washed into drains it can pollute the water making it undrinkable
- There's no chance of the litter being recycled as it has been disposed of and will travel where the wind it's it.
