day 10: childhood memory working at the library brings back so many childhood memories. like when I first started here and discovered this book while shelving. this was my FAVORITE book for dad to read to us growing up cause he always did the best voices 😌 when I shelve junie b. jones I think of how much I loved those books as a kid, and even dressed up as her “party animal” persona in elementary school. when I see dork diaries or the warriors series I think of @allisonnpickett cause she loved those series growing up. getting to do storytime every week makes me think of @ameypickett and how she used to take me to mommy & me storytime. I love what I do not only because I get to be around books all day - and discover new favorites - but also because I get to help create library memories, from my storytime friends to teens and in between. I get to suggest titles to eager (and not-so-eager) readers, hoping that at least one of the books I recommend will spark their interest/become their new favorite. it’s truly an honor and such a full circle experience because the library was always a place of comfort, security, and wonder for me. and I want to do everything I can to create that same experience for them. so big shout out not only to all the people in my life growing up who cultivated a love of reading and libraries in me (like my Mammaw @marcy5ronaolcom), but to @msrachelforlittles and @mychal3ts as well.
