✨book review✨ I’ll give you the sun by Jandy Nelson ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (3.5/5 stars) one of the most metaphorical books i’ve ever read. to the point that sometimes it was hard to tell whether certain things were actually happening or just… you know… a metaphor. there were little moments too when we were just supposed to go along with names that were given to things. example: god was referred to as clark gable and instead of saying “oh god”, Jude would say “oh clark gable”. the story of two twin siblings falling apart and coming back together, told in dual pov and dual timeline. i adored being inside Noah’s head and his metaphors and the way he saw and experienced the world and people. Jude however had the longer chapters (literally 100 pages long-not exaggerating. this book is only 8 chapters total) and i didn’t enjoy being inside her head so much. while Noah had a way of explaining his feelings in a metaphorical yet realistic way, everything that was happening with Jude (the change of terms, her talking to her dead grandma, the ghost of her mom) it just seemed far fetched and took me out of the story so hard. i wish it had been more about her emotions and less her superstitions, because that’s were the book really fell for me. had her pov’s been more like Noah’s, i think i would have enjoyed this 100 times more. that being said, it is a heartwarming and heart wrenching book, it makes you sad how things develop and the secrets that can grow within family dynamics. overall, i enjoyed it but how everything came together in the end seemed a little unrealistic considering the weight all this things had on people. still, a story that definitely touches the soul. ——————————————— #bookstagram #books #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #bookshelf #ilovebooks #readmorebooks #booktok #book #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookshop #bookshopping #read #reader #readersofinstagram #reading #currentlyreading #tbr #tbrstack #tbrpile #monthlytbr #booklover #rating #readingchallenge #bookstore #losangeles #illgiveyouthesun #jandynelson

Jag ger dig solen - Jandy Nelson Den här har legat i min bokhylla och samlat damm ett bra tag! Det är en ungdomsbok och jag är riktigt glad att jag äntligen läste den. Älskade författarens språk och själva berättelsen. Den handlar om ett par tvillingar, Noah och Jude. Det händer något som gör att deras liv förändras och gör så att de knappt pratar med varandra längre. Det är en färgsprakande berättelse om den där himlastormande ungdomsförälskelsen och om mörka hemligheter. Väldigt bra och väldigt läsvärd! Hembiträdet - Freida McFadden Den här var en riktig, riktig bladvändare! Full fart från första sidan till den sista. Boken handlar om Millie som precis avtjänat ett fängelsestraff och får ett jobb som hembiträde hos en förmögen familj. Millie gör allt för att behålla jobbet i den konstiga familjen. Läs den här om du vill läsa en psykologisk thriller, och jag lovar att det blir svårt att lägga ifrån sig den. Har ni läst någon av dessa? Vad tyckte ni?🌸

Solar eclipse stack 🌔 Did you see the eclipse today? Today's was (supposedly) the most-viewed in history in the United States, and I made sure to take a peek at it. I just finished The Day Tripper by James Goodhand and coincidentally, it mentioned a solar eclipse that took place in the UK in the 90s. That book isn't pictured because it didn't fit the vibe (lol). 📖book review📖 ☀️I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson☀️ read via: audiobook🎧 with physical copy 📚 (i may or may not own the ebook too🙈) rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ i give this the sun, moon, and all the stars! i first read this book in 2017 and it has stuck with me. i’m happy to say that it was just as impactful and poignant the second time around. this is the story of a set of twins dealing with a loss, struggling with their places in the world, and expressing themselves through art. they experience first love, strife, guilt, and healing. i normally don’t pick up Young Adult or coming of age stories, but this is an all-time favorite book of mine. this book is written so beautifully, and i highlighted and tabbed so many quotes. i absolutely adore the Sweetwine twins. their voices were distinct (and each narrated well on the audiobook by Julia Whelan and Jesse Bernstein). they felt like real teenagers. they could be frustrating at times, but that’s not even a complaint of mine because what teen ISN’T frustrating sometimes?? i definitely was. anyway, i was able to understand why the characters made the choices they did, even if they weren’t always good ones. Jude and Noah were complex, trying to bury the most shameful parts of themselves while navigating life. i think adults and teens alike can find value in this book. it’s been a comfort for me, making me both laugh and cry since i lost a family member recently. even if you can’t relate directly to some of the challenges Jude and Noah face, this book explores what makes us human—unconditional love, family struggles, heartbreak, belief systems, guilt, and grief. ❔what’s a YA book that you love?

Bardzo spodobało mi się podział rozdziałów; gdy rodziały były z perspektywy Noaha akcja działa się gdy oboje mieli 13 lat i mamy pogląd jak doszło do zniszczenia ich relacji, z kolei w rozdziałach Jude mają po 16 lat czyli teraźniejszość gdzie Jude próbuje naprawić błędy. Książka ma też lekki styl pisania ,ale wielokrotnie skłania do refleksji. Niewiem czemu ,ale momentami przypominały mi się uczucia jakie miałxm gdy czytałxm ,, Arystoteles i Dante,, Książkę którą też bardzo kocham Rówinież zamykanie wszystkich wątków było płynne i naturalne. Nie miałxm w żadnym momencie czegoś w stylu,, ale czemu przecież to nie ma żadnego sensu?!,, A zarazem były fragmenty których się nie spodziewałxm. The sob I just let out finishing this book is quite embarrassing. But my Clark Gable, what a book. I was heavily influenced to read this by an author and a fellow bookstagrammer (shoutout to @evadeslaurbooks and @dramakingbooks 💙). When I tell you that I literally struggled putting this book down last night, knowing I had to wait til today to finish…. It was a battle. Things I loved about this book: I loved Noah and Jude. They were both flawed, raw, real characters that made you feel things. I loved Brian. I loved Oscar. Noah’s paintings and drawings! I wish I could see them. “I’ll give you the sun!” I LOVED how this story was told, even though the chapters were long. Showing the different ages/maturity/growth. It was a fantastic way to tell this story. That conflict was so well done. Noah discovering his feelings 😭. Jude after Zephyr 😭. The way my heart broke for Noah after that party. I cried. That’s about where I stopped reading for the night. Jude’s brokenness was so relatable. The missed connection site!! Oscar saving Noah. When everything came to a head. That ending broke me. In a good way. Jude y Noah son mellizos, un aspecto fundamental en la trama. Jude, una chica con un espíritu libre y una pasión desbordante por el arte, inspira con su determinación y valentía. Por otro lado, Noah es un chico sensible y creativo, constantemente está haciendo pinturas mentales (mis partes favoritas del libro). Su vínculo fraternal es complejo, como el de cualquier par de hermanos, pero la autora explora también la dinámica única de ser mellizos, donde la competencia se entrelaza con la profunda conexión que solo ellos pueden tener. Ambos personajes están llenos de matices y complejidades; cometen errores, pero precisamente esto los hace tan reales y entrañables. Lo que más me fascina de esta historia es cómo la autora nos describe el arte de cada hermano. Es un juego tan cautivante que te hace volar tu imaginación. Es una pena que este libro no tenga más reconocimiento, porque realmente es especial. Jandy Nelson trata temas como el amor, la familia y la identidad de una manera que llega al corazón.
