Mishaps can turn into happy endings. I mapped out the first layers of this painting in a way that resulted in the composition being far from what I had in mind. The grass area should have been much shorter. Crapass! But this accident/error sparked a new idea and direction. Let’s try submerging the beast in a green floral sea. Does that even make sense to do? Turns out, YES! We are free to try out our ideas. And when the ideas fall outside of the norm, that’s when we really need to listen to where our work is leading us. As artists, we have the freedom to be brave enough to go with the flow. Sometimes that flow may lead us down an ugly path. Then it’s time to glean any lessons and move on down the road to create the next possibilities. Never give up! 💋
Now I really feel the landscape. I can be bold and include every tone of pink and blue: it's enchanting, it's delicious. -Claude Monet I concur, dear sir. I’ve been called to explore lily pond paintings. While I’ve never been as huge fan of Monet’s landscapes to the level of many of his admirers, I have enjoyed seeing his large scale murals of his legendary garden in various museums. This dude was prolific. Monet painted the same scene many times and captured the changing of light and the passing of the seasons even as his vision became an issue. These were among the scenes that occupied him for the last 20 years of his life. I will continue to explore these images as I learn more about this wonderful artist. “Boudoir” SOLD
