New Atherstone huntsman Dick Chapman had no control over the hounds which meant we had to step in and control them for him. It would appear that the #AtherstoneHunt have robbed a load of road signs from some nearby roadworks and bolted their own signs on top for their hunt "pleasure ride" in Upton today. It is however an admission from the hunt that riding horses on public roads is a hazard and health and safety issue. It seems that a horsebox at the #atherstonehunt kennels was burnt out recently. Apparently this is the second time in the past three months. We have reported previously that the Atherstone Hunt are struggling financially, so much so that their accounts show that over the past few years they have been steadily selling off all of their tangible assets. This has included the selling off of all of the horses owned by the hunt. One of the few assets left that the Atherstone Hunt still had was the hound lorry used to transport the hounds and horses to hunt meets. Violence and aggression from regular Atherstone Hunt supporters. Hunt supporters spy on a female sab going to the toilet and then used misogynist and derogatory language towards her. When challenged over this behaviour the hunt supporters then became aggressive, threatening and assaulting sabs. The most shocking part of the incident was when they started waving their small dog in the air and shoving it in sabs faces. West Midlands Hunt Saboteurs 13 mins · Atherstone Hunt - Saturday 29th December - Corley / Coventry As we know The Atherstone Hunt sold a lot of their assets at the end of last season to stay afloat. Today we saw them meet in an area that has lots of liveries and young riders. Indeed the majority of today's riders were young people. The Atherstone didn’t deny they met in Corley as a money making exercise, in fact the landowner said it was a ‘sponsored ride’. The Atherstone Hunt rely on this meet to try and make money. Today there were less riders than previously at this meet. The hunt advertised this meet as a ‘fun ride’ with hounds. Fox hunts rely on riders to make money to keep afloat and the Atherstone are trying to build up a ‘field’ of riders to sustain itself. We were there to remind people where their money is going and to make sure that the wildlife in Corley wasn’t terrorised by the Atherstone Hunt. The Atherstone Hunt is in a mess, hunt members looked defeated and looked on as only 35 riders attended todays meet and half of those were under 18 the rest were either hunt masters or directors. Violence erupted both at the demonstration and later in the day as Atherstone Hunt supporters attacked both demonstrators and sabs. One member of the public was violently attacked by the hunt as her hair was grabbed and pulled by a regular hunt supporter. One hunt supporter grabbed one of the demonstrators banners with her teeth showing just how feral and out of control this hunt are. Hunt supporters were drinking alcohol all day, this surely raises questions regarding health and safety of this event.
