I'm a third of the way documenting the my steps each day in 2024. April is much easier for walking thanks to spring weather and more light after work. Not only was I able to walk 10,000 or more steps nine days (see the red icons), I also walked over 23,000 steps (see the yellow icon) when we were in Watertown, NY to see the total solar eclipse. Three months are complete on my painting documenting my steps each day in 2024. I can't believe we're a quarter of the way through the year already! March usually feels long because there aren't any weekday holidays and the weather shifts back and forth between winter to spring. There were also some days with a lot of heavy rain which limited my walking. I was able to walk over 10,000 or more steps seven times (see the red icons) with all but one on the weekends. The Observatories 2009 The Observatories asked: What techniques make us feel those fight-or-flight or must-buy-it-now urges? It also demonstrated how easy it is to manipulate people through subconscious smell. In standalone structures in the centre of Milton Keynes, audiences were confronted with two rooms, each identical, completely white, and containing a large bowl with a glossy black interior. People were asked to move through the rooms whilst thinking about how they were feeling. On the way out, they completed a short questionnaire. Each day, we added a subliminal smell – designed to affect the physiology of the visitors – to the second room. After collecting 1,200 responses, we confirmed that certain scents changed how people felt, but they did not know why.
