Michael Hastings has essential tremor, a neurological condition that can cause shaking of the hands, head and voice. These may include neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, multiple sclerosis, or stroke; certain medications; thyroid disorders; alcohol or drug withdrawal; caffeine consumption; or emotional stress. 3. Symptoms: Tremors are characterized by rhythmic shaking or oscillating movements of a body part. The severity and frequency of tremors can vary depending on the underlying cause and individual factors. Tremors may worsen with movement or when holding a posture, and they may improve with rest. 4. The next step of reintroduction was coffee this morning. I probably should have only had a sip. Instead, I had a whole cup with coconut milk and honey. It tasted wonderful. I'm also now vibrating in strange ways that have nothing to do with my essential tremors... or maybe it exacerbated my essential tremor. I'm uncertain about that but I do know I don't feel great. #workinprogress Thought I’d experiment with #painting a #soundimage of the word LOVE . One of the things I hope to accomplish with an #intermedia practice that is founded in digital translations is to mediate the sterility of screens/vectors/gloss is through materiality, motion & hand work. I also wanted to paint. Just paint. And this also required testing what I can still do within the limitations of having a wildly oscillating #essentialtremor which imposes what scale I can work at and methods to achieve a degree of precision. I’m not sure what’s next for this piece. Going to sit with it for a bit. I’m liking the contrast of the graphic quality against the unstretched canvas,so far. I was considering going hard edge substrate but am rethinking that now that I see this sketch.
