You have a pizza my heart @dough_eyed 🍕 How unreal does this pizza look please?! We were so excited to visit this place after seeing raving reviews about it on here, it certainly lived up to the hype 👌 Dough Eyed Pizza is a casual restaurant/bar that serves local beers and has a great list of 10 pizzas on offer 🍕 The pizzas are so reasonably priced ranging from £9-£14 and they have a gorgeous cocktail menu as well, with a huge 20 serves to choose from 🍹 We ordered the Nduja pizza with a pumpkin purée base, fior di latte, basil, Nduja, pecorino for £14 For drinks we got some lovely cocktails and @vocationbrewery beers, all 10/10 👌 Boss restaurant & bar and will be coming back next time we visit York!
Kyoto Izakaya // truly championing Kyoto-grown produce, Onikai is paving the way for a new style of Izakaya. You still get the loud buzzing atmosphere with the staff shouting orders from one floor to the next, but the dishes are somewhat elevated in their creativity and immense freshness. Expect the likes of stuffed shiitake mushroom tempura, chilled tomato with a white fig salad and water spinach with river shrimps, koji and a soft boiled egg to name a few highlight dishes! The menu changes daily with the fresh produce collected from the local farms (predominantly Iso Farm in Kyoto!) so it really doesn’t get much fresher than this. Σχοινούσα ή να γευματίσεις στη Γλυφάδα, ο @nikolas_tis_schinousas πάντως προσπαθεί να εξυπηρετήσει με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο τους θαμώνες του. " Χώρος εξωτερικός ωραίος, άνετος σε λευκό φόντο με θεά τη θάλασσα. Εννοείται γεμάτος ασφυκτικά, εννοείται ότι τα τραπέζια άδειαζαν και γέμιζαν σε χρόνο ρεκόρ, και εννοείται ότι οι άνθρωποι έκαναν ό,τι ήταν ανθρωπίνως δυνατόν. Ο εσωτερικός χώρος είναι σε λευκές αποχρώσεις, αλλά για την ημέρα δε φάνηκε να λειτουργούσε. Με τέτοιο ωραίο καιρό θα ήταν αμαρτία να κάτσεις έξω, αν και ο αέρας μέχρι να πέσει μας ταλαιπώρησε λίγο. " Όσο για τις γευστικές δοκιμές ... "Ξεκινήσαμε με σαλάτα πράσινη ανάμεικτη, πολύ δυνατή, αρκετή σε ποσότητα, δοκιμάσαμε όλοι. Λευκή ταραμοσαλάτα, λίγο αλμυρούτσικη, καλή αλλά όχι και κάτι που με τρέλανε συνολικά. Εννοείται βέβαια ότι φαγώθηκε. Μελιτζανοσαλάτα καπνιστή εξαιρετική. Και αυτή φαγώθηκε χωρίς δεύτερη κουβέντα! Η λαγάνα που συνοδεύτηκε με αγγουράκι τουρσί ήταν εξαιρετική και αποδείχτηκε εξαιρετικός σύμμαχος στις βούτες των αχνιστών μυδιών που προσγειώθηκαν στο τραπέζι μας και δε θέλαμε να δώσουμε πίσω το πιάτο μέχρι να το καθαρίσουμε όλο. Σαγανάκι γαρίδα σωστά αλατισμένη η σάλτσα, και ωραία γεύση συνολικά, όπως επίσης και η μακαρονάδα με τις γαρίδες που ακολούθησε. Το καλαμάρι σχάρας ήρθε κομμένο σε ροδέλες και ήταν πολύ ωραία ψημένο, όπως επίσης και το ριζότο με γαρίδες που ήταν ωραία χυλωμένο και απέπνεε πραγματικά μια θαλασσινή αύρα." The 36th country whose national dish we cooked is Cuba. 👩🍳🌎🇨🇺 In corona time I started my culinary world trip @𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀. The goal: to cook the national dishes of all 196 countries of the world, from the A of Afghanistan to the Z of Switzerland (Zwitserland in Dutch). The national dish of Cuba is called ‘ropa vieja’ and I also made ‘arroz con frijoles negros a la cubana’ (rice and black beans). I give you both recipes. Ropa vieja literally means ‘old clothes’. It is a leftover dish with a interesting legend. From Spain the dish went via the Canary Islands to the Caribbean and South America and every country has its own version. In Cuba they make ropa vieja with super tender boiled and pulled beef. That meat is then cooked in a delicious sauce with onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers and spices with a strong meat stock. Very tasty! Het 36e land waarvan we het nationale gerecht kookten is Cuba. 👩🍳🌎🇨🇷 In de coronatijd begon ik met mijn culinaire wereldreis @𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀. Het doel: de nationale gerechten van alle 196 landen van de wereld koken, van de A van Afghanistan tot de Z van Zwitserland. Nu dus Cuba. Het nationale gerecht heet ‘ropa vieja’ en ik maakte er ook nog ‘arroz con frijoles negros a la cubana’ (rijst en zwarte bonen) bij. Ook daarvan krijg je het recept. Ropa vieja betekent letterlijk ‘oude kleren’. Het is een kliekjesgerecht met een leuke legende. Vanuit Spanje ging het gerecht via de Canarische eilanden naar de Caraïben en Zuid-Amerika en elk land heeft zijn eigen variant. In Cuba maken ze ropa vieja met supermals gekookt en losgetrokken rundvlees (‘pulled beef’). Dat draadjesvlees wordt weer gekookt in een lekkere saus met o.a. uien, knoflook, tomaat, paprika en specerijen met een krachtige vleesbouillon. Heel smakelijk! The 35th country whose national dish we cooked is Costa Rica in Latin America. 👩🍳🌎🇨🇷 In corona time I started my culinary world trip @𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀. The goal: to cook the national dishes of all 196 countries of the world, from the A of Afghanistan to the Z of Switzerland (Zwitserland in Dutch). So now Costa Rica, no. 35/196. The national dish of Costa Rica is gallo pinto, which means spotted rooster. It is a simple basic dish of rice and black beans that is flavored with onion, garlic, red pepper and Salsa Lizano. Tastier than I thought (partly because of the Lizano sauce that you can replace with HP sauce or Worcestershire sauce), but still a lot of starch. The dish scored 12.75/20 points for us. Het is een eenvoudig basisgerecht van rijst en zwarte bonen dat op smaak is gemaakt met ui, knoflook, rode paprika en Salsa Lizano. Smakelijker dan ik dacht (mede door die Lizano die je kunt vervangen door HP sauce of Worcestershire sauce), maar toch wel veel zetmeel bij elkaar. Het gerecht scoorde bij ons 12,75/20 punten. 🌱 "I had such an incredible meal starting with an arugula salad with a light, tangy passion fruit vinaigrette that was absolutely perfect. I also ordered Ahi Tataki which was fabulous - all the flavors and textures were divine. For my main I chose the braised duck ragù which had been recommended to me by a local who works at The Orcas Project wine tasting room a couple of blocks away. It was SO delicious! The flavors, textures, and plated presentation far exceeded my expectations. I also place a great deal of value and appreciation for chefs and establishments that prioritize sourcing local ingredients, and since Orcas has so much to offer from local farms, fisheries and artisans, I was pleased to see this restaurant naming some of their local sources on the menu. Het 34e land waarvan we het nationale gerecht kookten is Congo-Brazzaville (‘Brazza’). 👩🍳🌍🇨🇬 In de coronatijd begon ik met mijn culinaire wereldreis @𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀. Het doel: de nationale gerechten van alle 196 landen van de wereld koken, van de A van Afghanistan tot de Z van Zwitserland. Nu dus Congo-Brazzaville. Kip moambe is genoemd naar het ingrediënt moambe, en dat is palmolie of palmboter van palmnoten. Palmolie ligt tegenwoordig onder vuur. Maar de rode palmolie is een essentieel onderdeel van het gerecht. Het geeft het gerecht z’n specifieke smaak en kleur. Je kunt het vervangen door arachide-olie, maar de authentieke smaak van het gerecht krijg je dan natuurlijk niet. Dus ja, ik val maar meteen met de deur in huis: ik heb toch palmolie gebruikt. Maar ik vond duurzame. Kip moambe scoorde netjes met 14,5/20 punten. Niet spectaculair, wel gewoon lekker. Kip in een smakelijke rood gekleurde pindasaus met tomaten. Niks mis nee. Tokyo Dining // Classic izakaya are a firm favourite of mine to add to any itinerary in Japan, but in recent years there has been a boom of neo-izakaya with a more modern facade and unique takes on classic izakaya fare which will add a little spice to your restaurant reservation roster. I’ve compiled some of my favourite modern izakaya’s for a unique dining experience to add to your next Tokyo itinerary! 1. SG Low, Shibuya - Praised for their extensive menu of sours (20 to be exact - the Szechuan sour is divine!), expected coming from acclaimed bartender Shingo Gokan from SG club, but for me their food menu is a standout. It’s full of fun takes on familiar dishes that just make your palette sing. The mentaiko Mac and cheese is a must! 2. Karakaze, Yutenji - A super local haunt with a fun menu that includes green curry potato salad packing a little spice, cumin pork yakisoba with an egg yolk for an added lusciousness and delightfully crunchy kawaebi (river prawns) to name a few! 3. Lanterne, Ikejiri-Ohashi - Set in a gorgeous open space with grand arches framing the windows, this modern izakaya is one to watch! I loved the freshness of the scallop salad, notably the beef and shiso rolls were also fab. There’s a really chic vibe here and a tasty ever-changing natural wine list to enjoy with it! 🍷 4. Ganachi, Asakusa - Located a stones throw from the infamous Sensoji temple makes this the perfect stop after a day of exploring Asakusa. Gonpachi earned its stripes from the Kill Bill movie, but this branch stands out on its own with the daily selection of sashimi and in-house made soba noodles. 5. Fun Fan, Nakameguro - A trendy Chinese fusion izakaya playing classic 80s pop music for the good vibes. Στο σημερινό post του www.eatingout.gr σας έχουμε μπύρες, κάστρα ιπποτών, ιστορική αναδρομή με "ανεβασμένα" ξενύχτια σε μπουζουκομάγαζα της Συγγρού παρέα με μπουκάλια whiskey ... Όλα ευγενική προσφορά του Jim! Φύγαμε για γερμανικό εστιατόριο και πιο συγκεκριμένα πάμε στο @beer_garden_ritterburg !!! Για να σας βάλουμε στο κλίμα: Beer 🍺🍺. Διαθέτει για γερμανικό εστιατόριο μικρό κατάλογο από μπύρες και ακόμα πιο περιορισμένες draft. Σε αντίθεση με τις μπύρες τα κρασιά ήταν αρκετά. Garden. Κήπος ωραίος στο απέναντι παρκάκι, κάτω από τη σκιά και την δροσιά των δέντρων αλλά για ζεστό καιρό. Ritterburg. Κάστρο ιπποτών. Θα περίμενα καλύτερη διακόσμηση, κάτι που να θυμίζει παραπάνω κάστρο. Εκτός από ένα πέτρινο τοίχο στη μια πλευρά του μαγαζιού με κάποια θεματικά κάδρα μπύρας, φεστιβάλ κλπ, κάποιες προθήκες με ποτήρια μπύρας, το υπόλοιπο μαγαζί κινείται σε αδιάφορα μονοπάτια με κόκκινους καναπέδες άλλης δεκαετίας, όπως και τα σε ανοιχτό καφέ χρώμα, τραπεζοκαθίσματα. Wurstplatte. Κλασσικά ποικιλία λουκάνικων από τις καλύτερες που έχω φάει με λουκάνικο τηγανιτό με ματζουράνα, καπνιστό, τηγανητό με τυρί, ελαφρώς καπνιστό, Βαυαρίας και καπνιστό μπέικον, ωραίες γεύσεις, καθαρές, διαφορετικές μεταξύ τους συνοδεία ξινολάχανου, πολύ καλής πατατοσαλάτας και κάτι σαν bratkartoffeln, το οποίο ήταν απλά πατάτες τηγανιτές και κομμένες σε μεγάλα κομμάτια με ψιλοκομμένο μπέικον και λίγο κρεμμύδι. So, if you’re in the market for a traditional Japanese teishoku lunch, I have just the place for you! Set back from the main Takeshitadori shopping street towards Kitasando you’ll find Okuhara Shokudo, serving up all the classic Japanese lunches from crab croquettes to oyakodon and even Japanese curry. My go to is always the tonkatsu teishoku with a succulent and crispy pork cutlet. The set lunches are usually served with steamed rice, miso soup, salad and some pasta salad.
