In the case of this bar, transitioning from a small timber sample to full-scale cladding yielded unexpected results with refinement needed to ensure it was more in place with the historic timber ceilings. With the direction of scenic artist and set finisher Andy King, Principal Jeremy Bull was put to work during a site visit applying the desired finish by hand to both the bar front and timber surrounding the back mirror. Waikari Hospital Journey: The woes I have whilst a patient in Waikari Hospital is a long list. People that work in the hospital need to have compassion and experience to relate to what patients are going through. At times I witness the lack of conversation and effort to connect with patients. The work load that tends to happen for staff is behind a computer screen typing notes, giving them little time to connect. That for me is sad. One nurse I did connect with had so much time of day to kōrero which was a blessing. Nurses are around the clock administering medication. It can be a docile environment. If nurses are constantly behind a computer screen, there is a need for discussion around delegation. One patient, an older man expressed to me that nurses made no time to talk to him which was something he struggled with. That is a testament to the Ministry of Health. How much effort is the Government putting towards people that are struggling mentally? The health system is stagnant. It is rather upsetting to know the government is failing our country. They have a major part to play. What will our future look like if nothing changes? I see progress at times, I'm hopefully for change but I do fear if people do not speak up, people won't acknowledge there is so major mahi to do. I factor in that what I'm trying to work on for myself is trusting my faith and trusting that things will improve for society. Mental health effects us in many way and my brain is processing so much and being confused about what happens in my environment can make me misunderstand situations and scenarios. I know that harm I have felt hasn't helped my trust certain people and it is something that is hard to understand. I tend to worry, I tend to distrust and I tend to think the worst. Always healing and always reminding myself that things change for the better. Love & Light 🪷
