Day 3. Was a hard and grueling hike called Ben Lomond. We started later and I think that was the issue as although it wasnโt that hot the sun was already up in the air. We brought extra water bottles and Gatorade only to completely finish them 3/4 of the trip. It was a. 6-8hr hike and we were smashed by the end of it. We raced back to the terminal and found that a 750ml bottle of water was an insane price. Luckily we were able to get water from the pub! Unfortunately a lot of other hikers also found themselves in a similar situation and tbh I generally bring more water than not but this time round we got wrecked. Also this guy while we were at the summit asked me for a cable for his mad drone. Unfortunately he bought a new drone on the trip and forgot to bring a specific cable and I didnโt have it. 4/24 I was actually happy being a CAD monkey, going on hikes, and taking photos of landscapes. Although I knew that I can't just be this back packer in what is supposed to be my own country forever. I was hopeful about making my new life in Auckland work, but my initial impression of this city made me feel an instant set of regrets. For how expensive the city is, the bad traffic, a clear ceiling in career progression, basic nightlife, lackluster housing, and a lot of repressed people put me in quite a bit of shock. The key to surviving in this city however is to ignore the people chasing this pointless clout. 3/24 Totaranui beach Sometimes I need to accept that much like with these photos of the Abel Tasman, keeping things simple in life is pretty healthy. The problem that I've discovered however, is that this seems difficult to enjoy when the rest of your life is in shambles. When you are designing your life purely for the sake of travel, I believe it becomes a harsh existence when the circumstances don't line up to actually go on that adventure that you've always told yourself to go on. I was trying to process these deeply lonely feelings on an existential level. I have noticed however, that simply the process of deeply exploring the local area that you live helps to develop this sense of connection, rather than constantly planning for such elaborate trips to exotic places around the world. #abeltasman #newzealand #hiking #canonftb #fujifilm #nelson #southisland
