Similarly, autistic brains may experience gridlock when inundated with too much social or sensory input, leading to shutdowns, meltdowns, and various fight/flight/freeze/fawn/flop responses. Until the backlog of stimuli clears, no new information can be effectively processed. Mało tego, miałam okazję brać udział w wywiadzie (już dawno co prawda) u studentki, gdzie naprawdę pytania były bardzo ciekawe i dały mi dużo do myślenia w trakcie czy nawet po. Człowiek całe życie się uczy, doświadcza i więcej zaczyna rozumieć 🤌🧠 Kocham słyszeć - sprzęt dawał mi taką możliwość do pewnego momentu. Nastała cisza w jednym uchu, nie nosiłam długi czas sprzętu...było mi naprawdę dziwnie, niekomfortowo, nie umiałam się odnaleźć w tej nowej rzeczywistości, nie umiałam lokalizować dźwięków, miałam problem z komunikacją międzyludzką kiedy zakrywali usta czy mówili nie wyraźnie. Zaznaczę od razu, że migowy teoretycznie umiem na poziomie podstawowym (nie wiele mi to daje), ale plus był jeden taki, że umiem czytać z ust, więc to mnie jedynie ratowało. Short Story, Long Instagram Before I left the Alaskan Spider Facebook group I was part of (some bizarre and unexpected drama I was not prepared for going on in there) I did learn a few useful things. One such tidbit I was particularly interested in seeing for myself was that indoor spiders will often appreciate being offered a drop of water; it may snow and rain quite a bit up here in the subarctic, but the air itself is still quite dry, much to the chagrin of many of my houseplants. Tom had no love for spiders when we first met, but to his credit he listened to me when I made my case regarding why they are so valuable, and with each time he brought one outside rather than smashing it, he shrugged off a little more of his discomfort. Recently, he was messing around with an empty syringe (he's a medic, for those who don't know), and I asked him to use his impressive height to offer our Ceiling Spider a drop of water with it. He gave me a look of course, I think he has to, but he filled the syringe with water and held it up to Ceiling Spider. Ceiling Spider reacted immediately. It reached out to the drop and appeared to drink it, and then, much to our surprise, it climbed right on to the syringe. It made itself at home and seemed to be drinking the tiny droplets on the plastic surface. Tom set the syringe down next to some plants near Ceiling Spider's original location, and we left it in peace. We just had a purposeful and meaningful interaction with a creature so completely different from ourselves, an entity many think of as an automaton, a mindless and terrifying thing that can inflict great pain indiscriminately, and sometimes, even death. As a Jewish person, I see hope in this experience. I see possibilities and potential, and greater understanding.
