Does she know she has been fighting her entire life? She fought to get nourishment and to breathe. She continues to fight for comfort, fight for words, and fight for peace within her own body and mind. Does she know she was born into a world that wasn’t built for her? Does she know I will move heaven and earth to find the right tools to give her so she can walk through this world as safely and peacefully as she can? Does she know that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes? Does she know how deeply she has been loved by so many in her life? Loved by certain teachers, paras, and therapists that went above and beyond to create goals for success and strategies to work through some of her hardest days and moments Love by grandparents that have learned and do as much as they can to help her feel comfortable at home. Loved by siblings fiercely and unconditionally. They stepped up to teach, advocate for, care for, and protect her at all costs. Loved by parents that would give up everything to make sure she has what she needs on a daily basis. Parents that will care for her the rest of their days. Parents will try to have the best possible plan in place for her once they are no longer able to care for her. Parents are so proud of the warrior she is because she works hard every single day on things we don’t even have to think about. Does she know I will continue to stand right beside her in this fight? I will advocate as hard as I can. I will advocate for her to be seen, advocate for her to be heard, advocate for assistance, advocate for her health, advocate for her dignity, and advocate for her safety. Does she know? Have I done enough? Have I done too much? Does she feel safe? Does she feel loved? Does she know she has been fighting her entire life? #fcvblogsquad #autism #autismfamily #asdmom #autismparents #autismacceptance #autismawareness #autismmom #autismlove #sensoryprocessingdisorder #sensoryprocessing #sensory #sensoryfriendly #sensorylearning #specialneeds #specialneedsmom #specialneedsfamily #specialneedsparenting #specialeducation #specialeducationclassroom

🦋🌼April Bookclub🌿🐝 The Book: The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism Introduction by: David Mitchell Translated by: KA Yoshida and David Mitchell Written by: Naoki Higashida The Quotes: "And being able to share what I think allows me to understand that I, too exist in this world as a human being." "If you can't make out what you're seeing, it's the same as not seeing anything at all." "We can put up with our own hardships okay, but the thought that our lives are the source of other people's unhappiness, that's plain unbearable." This book is so helpful to the much needed insight in how to interact with people who are autistic. It answers frequently asked or thought of questions for why some or most autistics do things and how they might perceive things when it comes to interacting with everyone else who isn't autistic. They crave acceptance, patience, and love, which isn't asking for much when that's what we all want. My overall rating for enjoyment is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #autismacceptance #autismawarenessmonth #autisminclusion #autisticauthor #understandingautism #beautismfriendly

When I swipe through autism reels I see many of my brothers and sisters bringing up comments “autism moms” or “autism dads” arguing what these autism influencers are doing is attention seeking behavior and that their autism isn’t real because of these posts. I must ask does your autistic child not want attention? Or is this about what you are going through as their parents? Here is why I post on Instagram and why my fellow aspies do for most part…. We want join the fight for our place in this world…. We want also speak for our brothers and sisters who have higher needs because according to the DSM book we are on same spectrum as your child… let us speak for our own culture. Autism parents deserve their own platform and support….and I and other influencers for most part are here help you understand better. If you were to adopt a child from China and you wanted that child to know his or her heritage would you turn to a Yale scholar or someone who lives it? That Yale scholar had a bias and misses the little nuances of the Chinese culture. The same principal can we apply to the autism culture but still you gaslight my brothers and sisters… please listen and ask questions. Perhaps even let your autistic children watch these reels so they can see someone like them understand and explain what they are going through, that there is nothing wrong with them a different culture than their parents and that’s OK. Just because you’ve never seen an autistic person explain autism doesn’t mean people like me should be discredited. #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autismawarenessmonth #actuallyautistic #autismculture #autismmom #autismdad #autismspectrum #autismcommunity #autismparents #autismfamily #autismsupport #autisminfluencer #autismlife #autistic #autismwarrior #autismstrong #autisticadults #thoughtoftheday #autismadvocate #autismproud #autismpride

April is AUTISM awareness/acceptance month & I think that having the special Olympics happen during this month is a perfect tribute to the AMAZING AUTISM community. I genuinely love getting to be a part of it by proxy. I get to watch my oldest son grow & participate with people on his level. I get to watch my other sons support these athletes. I am an all abilities dance studio because I have seen 1st hand how hard it can be to find people who are compassionate with children who need more help. In the past, disabilities were often seen as overshadowing a person's abilities. However, society has begun to adopt a more holistic perspective, recognizing that disabilities don't necessarily limit an individual's potential. This shift reframes the concept of disabilities, suggesting that they can offer unique strengths when we change our mindset. What used to be considered invisible disabilities are now understood as part of neurodiversity, providing a richer comprehension of how people with disabilities function cognitively. The concept of twice exceptionality has gained acceptance, demonstrating that people can have both extraordinary abilities and significant challenges. Accommodations play a crucial role in emphasizing these unique talents. It's important not to view accommodations as a way for someone to avoid responsibilities. Instead, they are tools that allow individuals to fully express their abilities and contribute meaningfully. #educationalleadership #neurodiversityaffirming #educationforall #autismacceptance #transformationalleadership

We are excited to share another inspiring PECS success story, Alef from Brazil. Alef showed signs of communication difficulties at one and a half years old shortly after he received an autism diagnosis. His family began to implement PECS, which led to functional communication followed by speech! Alef is now bilingual - he speaks both English and Portugese! He is learning about careers in communications and media, and recently interviewed Andy Bondy!!😁 Thank you to Alef, his mother and @pecs_brazil for sharing your story with us! Prolonged periods of masking or sensory overstimulation can be overwhelming for an Autistic individual, and can all lead to what is known as Autistic Burnout. Autistic Burnout is different from regular burnout in that traits like sensory processing issues or executive dysfunction become more amplified, they may struggle to communicate at all, it can take much longer to recover (some Autistics have taken months or even years to recover from a burnout episode), and it can have a big impact on being able to work or do basic things like house chores, keep up with friends, hobbies/special interests etc. This is actually something I’ve not known about until recent years, so I’ve probably experienced it without knowing what it was, but I do often get tired out easily by things like being at work, socialising, or going out and about, and my traits double when I’m worn out. I spend a lot of time in my room which I need as it helps me regulate, and might be why I haven’t had an intense burnoutI have somewhere safe to go when I’m exhausted. If you know someone who is Autistic and is going through burnout or is prone to it, offer your support! Talk to them about it, and ask how you can help! They may need it more than you know. #autism #autisticburnout #burnout #sensoryoverload #autisticburnoutawareness #neurodiversity #autisticlife #ink #penandink #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autismacceptancemonth #autismawarenessmonth #neurodiversity #autism #actuallyautistic #autisticartist #drawing #sketch #illustration #autisticart

Recently on my story I have been asking a few different questions regarding flying with your service dog for the first time! I am the autistic that researches EVERYTHING… down to printing out pet relief area maps, looking at 3D tours of the airport… etc. This is usually what helps ease a LOT of my anxiety. Guess what, it is my first time flying, too!! Well, since I was like, 2 years old… So, clearly, @southwestair is the top pick among most service dog teams. The ONLY thing I didn’t like, was that my flight would not be nonstop — it would be a connecting flight in another city, which is not necessary since my flight is only 4 hours away. I believe they do this to cut down costs, which is nice, but being autistic, I want to cut down as much having to do new things as possible. So I believe we will be flying @united which also had very positive mentions! I really like all that I have read about their accessibility and accommodations. I plan on going over a lot more of our first flying experience, and the process of it all. Are there any specific questions you have, or things you want to see me cover? 💞 ✧ ✧ —> Use our code “SALEM10” for 10% off at Misty’s Dog Gear 🤍 ✧ ✧ #ServiceDog #ServicePoodle #CardiacAlertDog #DogTraining #ServiceDogHandler #ServiceDogTeam #AutismAssistanceDog #StandardPoodlesOfInstagram #ServiceDogsOfInstagram #SensoryOverload #BalancedTraining #AutisticAdult #AutismAcceptance #RedInstead #WorkingDog #MedicalAlertDog #PoodlePuppy #StandardPoodle #PoodlesOfInstagram #AutismAcceptance #AutismServiceDog #ServiceDoginTraining #SDIT #ServiceDogTasks #BrownStandardPoodle #ServiceDogAirplane #ServiceDogTravel #FlyingServiceDog #DogTravel #FirstFlight #DogFlight

Zobral fixu, kameň a začal kresliť. Fixu odložil, zobral inú farbu a zase kreslil. Vôbec to nekomentovali.

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out!” A classic quote from Dr. Seuss. Everyone is their own individual and we all stand out one way or another. We all have a unique purpose, but have this pressure to “fit in”. It is very common to be concerned with what people think of who we really are and if we do stand out, it’s not what they want to see. We have this fear of being thought of as “odd” and feel “unacceptable”. James certainly stood out. At 15 months old, he was able to identify every letter of the alphabet not only in sequential order, but at random. At 18 months old, he never spoke a word, while his peers were saying at least 15-20 words. By 2 years old, he could identify numbers up to 50. Why is it that my child can be miles ahead of his peers when it comes to identifying letters and numbers, but still cannot speak a word? During the whole process of trying to figure out why James was not speaking, I realized my unique purpose - to see the world through a different lens and help James understand the world around him. Let this quote serve as a reminder that we were born with our own set of traits, talents, and points of view and that we should embrace our own individuality rather than conforming to what is considered “normal”. #autism #autismawareness #autisminclusion #autismempowerment #autismacceptance #autismappreciation #asd #autismparent #autismmom #spectrummom #spectrumparent #fundraiser #golf #golftournament #voice4james #swing4james

I’m so proud of this young buck we have been working on dividing our tasks in small bits and today we got it.. he was able to go task 1. ✅ task 2✅ task 3✅…. Children with autism are so easily distracted and often get things done with a lot repetition. I would encourage you to be consistent with what you are trying to achieve. *weiter in den Kommentaren* #autism #autismus #autismusspektrum #adhs #adhserwachsene #actuallyautistic #autistischeerwachsene #spätdiagnostiziert #autismusakzeptanz #autismacceptance #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #neurodivergenz #unsichtbarebehinderung #audhs #inklusion #neuroaffirming

I have done over 100 parkruns and I volunteered occasionally. I always went on my own because I thought this is not a place for my two autistic boys. I thought there would be too much noise and that they would get in people’s way when they were running/walking. How wrong was I?! My youngest son James loves going around and greets everyone he meets. Now my eldest son Sean has started to join in as well. This is the first family photo that has ever been taken of us participating as a family in an event together. Each day of the month, I will try to share what makes Uno special :)  April 29, 2024 Uno loves her Lolo Rolly, Lola VL , Lolo Bobby and Lola Rosie very much. They cook or buy her favorite food, and allways take her to the mall. As we get ready for Art for Autism this Saturday, May 4th, in San Antonio we wanted to re-share Tristan's story about what an impact this event can have. Artist Tristan Cadena was one of the returning artists at the 2023 Art for Autism. Before his first Art for Autism, the 16-year-old worked with his speech therapist on how to talk to strangers and engage in conversations. He had so much fun talking about art with the people who stopped by his booth that he was ready and excited to do it again this year. The experience has also given him a new way to look at his art. “Before the event, he saw it as a hobby,” says his mother, Justine. “Now he is seeing how his art can make people happy and be profitable, as well. From my perspective, I see a confidence in him that we did not see before. He started painting during the pandemic and while we see his gift, he second-guesses himself. With time, and because of the event, he has grown so much in his techniques, his confidence in his talent, and in himself.” We look forward to see everyone on Saturday! April is Autism Acceptance Month which allows us to amplify our commitment to understanding, embracing, and celebrating the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals on the autism spectrum. This month is a call to foster an inclusive society where acceptance goes hand in hand with awareness. By promoting a culture of understanding and support, we can create environments that empower those with autism to shine brightly. Let's strive for a world where everyone, regardless of neurodiversity, is valued and embraced for their authentic selves. #MillCreekRes #AutismAcceptance #DifferentNotLess

April is coming to an end, and there’s so much in this one month to reflect on. Months end, and days go by quick, one thing that does not end is Autism or TSC. As autism acceptance and awareness month comes to an “end”.. it isn’t really ending for me as everyday is awareness and acceptance. With April’s end, May brings us Tuberous Sclerosis awareness month 💙 This month I was able to stop and have conversations with new people from my community and my neighborhood and talk about autism and talk about how I started Sensory Rise Sourdough. It was such a great feeling being asked about my son and our journey. And that’s all it takes, just ask the questions. Educate yourself by asking and accepting. So much happened in what seemed like such a short amount of time. Lots of porch pick ups, new customers, returning customers, lots of sickness happened in my home which led to some seizures for my boy… He also started baseball with a new team full of boys and girls just like him and it was the highlight of our month. He teaches me everyday, though life may knock us down, there’s many blessing right around the corner. We just have to continue to get back up and keep moving forward. One of my favorite advocates and influencers in the Autism community is @peace_love_autism ! Lots of her hard talks, events, advice and just her love for this community has brought me so much hope and love in this special neurodivergent life we’ve created. 💚 If you’ve made it to the end of this post, thank you for taking the time to listen. To everyone who’s supported me on this journey.. thank you for being here!! This space isn’t only for Sourdough and baked goods, it’s for awareness and acceptance and bringing knowledge to others about neurodiversity and finding community in each other. So remember to not only accept & respect autistic humans.. accept & respect all autistic & medically fragile, neurodivergent humans! It’s for sure the vibe 🧡⚡️
