Healthy Flavors Arkansas was founded in 2018 by Dan Spatz (left), and is currently managed by Dr. Joe Black (right). Our mission is to enhance the value of food for communities who understand the benefits of local production and who are willing and motivated to support local farmers. That mission also includes giving back by educating customers and consumers that local food is fresher, more tasty, more nutritious and produced with more care and concern for those who are consuming it. Currently, we grow lettuce, spinach, purple hull peas, and assorted squash (summer and winter), but there is much more to come! In future posts, we will explore why locally grown food is beneficial to our communities. Stay tuned to hear the story of our farm!

Little miss Valentine has been a naughty girl and decided she would sneak some snacks from Ginger, her mom 🤦♀️ so since she wanted to act like a calf we put her in the calf pen 😂 she’s not thrilled about it but the babies have someone to watch over them and she can nurse them for a bit while we figure out what comes next. We can’t have cows nursing on cows because it causes pain and discomfort for the cow which in turn causes pain for us in the barn 😣 I don’t enjoy being kicked so we’re nipping that in the bud. Thank you to everyone who reached out yesterday! For the time being I’m putting a hold on taking on more weekly customers. I think I’ve reached my limit for now and don’t want to over load the schedule for the times we’re short on milk. Today we poured more milk, 26 gallons, and it is all sold/claimed already by my weekly customers 😳 what does this mean for you? Well, first, I’m going to need more of a notice to have milk saved for you and second, if you are wanting on a weekly pickup schedule I suggest getting in touch sooner than later because those spots are filling up. Meet Milk & Honey Hill Farm’s newest resident, Nikole. She was born in the frigid cold with a bitter wind blowing. Mama couldn’t get her dried off quick enough & she was too weak to stand up. So she was brought to us, late last night to bottle feed. We were honored and her new mama was delighted to take on the challenge! She is still pretty lethargic, but she takes her bottle like a champ, has pooped and peed, and occasionally calls for her herd mates. Her caregiver here responds in kind. Our first “real” snow of the season here at Link Farm and our mini’s are doing just fine. We went out at the break of dawn and put out extra hay for them so their rumens stay full and warm all day. We’re in the 20°’s now but will be dipping into below zero temps over the next couple days. I’ll go out there personally and cuddle with them to keep them warm if I have to!
