Do you grow pecans? Here are some things you should be thinking about this month: 🌳 Watch for insect damage: Continue monitoring stink bug pheromone traps and weevil traps. Check trees for signs of twig girdler, aphids, and caterpillars. Treat as needed. 🌳 Soil preparation: Prepare ground for harvesting. Keep vegetation mowed short. Remove branches and other trash. 🌳 Remove cattle: If cattle are allowed to graze under trees, they should be removed from the orchard to allow time for manure to break down before harvest. This way, you won't have to deal with E. coli issues. 🌳 Locate markets: Find markets to sell your pecans. 🌳 Tree spacing: Mark undesirable trees for removal. 🌳 Disease control: If early season scab control has been good, late season scab development will not affect the crop and does not require control.
