The pic is the lake that her log overlooks. The last pic is her log with a teeny amount of her ashes, it was all I could part with (some Bubby ashes too). It felt like a long trip but was definitely worth it...even with the wind. Both Tater and the new little girl went with us...they are still learning to eat on their own but they still need a little assistance. They both did wonderful on the trip. But most of all, she was brave, walked the talk in following her dreams. Sara's mission on Earth was to heal...and that she did in this short time fostering a rich legacy. Tonight we had Carla’s Celebration of Life Party in Temecula at a lovely place overlooking a lake. There was a cute Hello Kitty theme going on. Carla’s love of Hello Kitty came from her Marine Daddy’s time in Japan. Both of our Dads had been Marines stationed in Camp Pendleton. Maybe that’s where she and I got our toughness from? Got to finally meet Aunt Shirley in person & she’s as sweet and kind in person as I remember on the zoom call with Carla the last time she visited California from Florida a few months ago. Loved meeting Carla’s kids, grandkids, family, friends and other folks she worked with in the newspaper/ media business over the years. Some very funny stories about Carla were shared, but ultimately we were all sad because our fun and dynamic Carla is no longer here. So glad that myself, Caroline, Amanda and Rhiannon (her most current co-workers and besties) were able to be there. I dubbed us as Charlies Angels - but then quickly changed it to Carla’s Angels. Im Mai hätte er sein 15. Lebensjahr erreicht, doch nach einer langen und tapferen Schlacht gegen eine schwere Krankheit, die er bereits seit seiner Zeit im Tierheim mit sich trug, haben wir uns heute schweren Herzens dazu entschieden, ihn gehen zu lassen. Oskar kam vor 14 Jahren als einjähriger Kater zu uns, ausgestattet mit einem Herzfehler, der ihm keine lange Lebenserwartung versprach. Dennoch haben wir ihn liebevoll bei uns aufgenommen. In seiner Zeit bei uns überstand er zwei schwere Unfälle, doch sein unerschütterlicher Lebenswille und seine liebevolle Natur ließen ihn stets wieder auf die Pfoten kommen. Oskar war ein imposanter großer Kater, der in seinen besten Zeiten stolze 9 Kilogramm wog. Doch im Laufe seiner Krankheit war er auf knapp fünf Kilo heruntergemagert. Trotzdem behielt er seine majestätische Ausstrahlung und sein beeindruckendes Erscheinungsbild bis zuletzt bei. Besonders in Erinnerung wird uns Oskars enge Bindung zu unseren Hunden bleiben. Er lebte sein ganzes Leben lang Seite an Seite mit ihnen und war ein fester Bestandteil unseres Rudels. Oskar war nicht nur ein Katzenkamerad, sondern verstand sich oft besser mit Hunden als mit Artgenossen. Diese ungewöhnliche Freundschaft bereicherte unser Leben auf eine ganz besondere Weise. In den letzten Monaten wurde sein Leiden jedoch zunehmend schwerer, und wir mussten uns mit dem schwersten aller Entschlüsse konfrontieren. Heute haben wir uns dazu entschieden, ihm weiteres Leiden zu ersparen und ihn sanft über die Regenbogenbrücke gehen zu lassen. Oskar wird immer einen besonderen Platz in unseren Herzen haben. Sein freches Miauen, sein verspieltes Wesen und seine bedingungslose Liebe werden wir zutiefst vermissen. We had to say a sad goodbye earlier this week as we lost dear Dru 🐹🐾❤️ Such a curious, friendly, energetic little girl, her favourite things were running in her wheel, running around the bed and sitting on her ledge ready for treats and attention. Whenever she heard our voices she’d pop straight out of her mound of bedding for some social time. When we first met, I put my finger on the glass and she put her little paw on it on the opposite side and knew she had to come home. Easy to handle but a bit of an escape artist if she wanted to be, like when she decided she did not like the enclosure and promptly made that known until we found one she was happy with.
