ππππ ππ πππππππππ’ π¦π Over the half term we visited Margate, the weather was absolutely gorgeous so we decided to go on an art trail around the town. Rise up residency is a mural project and educational programme in Margate. It was created to raise awareness of ocean conservation and the issues caused by plastic in and near our oceans. Blaine loved making a game of finding the murals and whoever saw the mural first was the winner. Iva found them all mesmerising and loved the sea horse mural by Curtis Hylton the most. This trail is completely free and you can download the map online via their Instagram page @riseupresidency_ There are 17 murals from 17 different artists to find around Margate. Mine and Blaineβs favourite mural was created by an artist called Smug, the mural shows a seal that has fallen victim to plastic waste and it is being helped by someone from British Divers Marine Life Rescue. Both grey and harbour seals can be found in Thanet, and can be easily seen from the dunes at Pegwell bay. These murals are spread out across Margate so we definitely recommend giving yourself a few hours to see them all and taking breaks in between if you have little humans. No matter how many times you visit, thereβs always something new to explore! It could be a flower or fungi you have never seen before, a new bird or insect, the possibilities really are endless. This half term we visited Cromers Woods, a nature reserve looked after by @kentwildlife trust in Sittingbourne Kent, even though this woods is local to us, this visit was our very first. Cromers woods is just 28 hectares, making it perfect for our toddler Iva to walk without tiring her out too much. The woods has loads of lovely wooden statues around the trails which Blaine and Iva loved searching for. It also has a little duck pond near the beginning of the trail, we saw 3 mallard ducks swimming around, which made Iva extremely ecstatic. We also saw loads of white spring flowers called Wood Anemones, which were really beautiful and our very first bluebell of the year! They are just starting to appear here so hopefully in the next few weeks they will be more abundant. We were astonished by the taxidermy collection in the museum, the animals were so diverse and we loved looking for all the small little details that you could see once you stood back and just took the scenery in. Blaine loved the big cats the most including the Tiger, Lion and Leopard. The staff at the museum were amazing, not only were they welcoming but they really do know their stuff! Blaine really enjoyed the hands on part of the museum, this room had a fantastic variety of different objects that he could pick up, touch and really look at properly. His favourites were the turtle shells, the taxidermy hedgehog and the Japanese Tengu mask. They also had a lovely book corner which had the most beautiful books to read, a colouring table and a microscope with a mixture of different objects to look at closely including a tarantula. The gardens were truly breathtaking and now is the perfect time to visit as all the spring flowers are blooming, it really did lift our spirits seeing all the beautiful colours on show. We met the most confident peacock who loved showing us around the grounds π he really did take a huge liking to Blaine! One of my favourite parts of the gardens was the cactus greenhouse, they had quite a few cactus/succulents that I have but so many more I wish I owned! It really was a wonderful day out and made us feel so positive for what spring has in store for us this year. Powell-Cotton Museum, Gardens and house are open 11.00am - 4.00pm, weekends and bank holidays. Blaine recently asked if we could visit a beach, we usually go to Margate but I thought it would be a good idea to try somewhere different. We decided to go Whitstable. We first went for a walk along the beach front, here we searched for fossils and admired the beautiful beach huts. We then went for lunch and couldnβt resist having some delicious fish and chips at the old Neptune. There was a fantastic new sculpture called the Sirens of Sewage that has been temporarily installed here, itβs to remind everyone about the ongoing battle with sewage pollution and to also celebrate the community for coming together and trying to enforce a change. After lunch we made our way to Whitstable castle, we saw the most amazing little library we have ever seen. These seem to be becoming a lot more popular around our local area, itβs so nice to see people making these little libraries for the community. Iva picked a Thomas the tank engine book from the library to take home, next time we visit we are going to bring some of our old books to replace the one we took. The spring flowers are starting to bloom in Whitstable castle gardens and it was such a lovely refreshing sight. We saw loads of ladybirds and Blaine loved the wooden park. It was hard to get him out of there! We canβt wait to visit Whitstable again as thereβs so much more to explore, including the beautiful town. Have you been to Whitstable lately? π½π π πππππ πππππ πππππππ; ππ ππππππ πππππ πππ ππππ - π·ππ π±ππππππ #AD PR Visit - @brewersfayre π£π Yesterday we were invited to Brewers Fayre Castle Lake for a fantastic family Sunday roast, this was our very first visit and the kids absolutely loved the soft play area. We took part in their Easter egg hunt to find hidden egg cutouts, Iva got so excited running around finding all the clues, once we found them all, we unscrambled the letters to spell out a secret word, which we wrote down, both Blaine and Iva received a yummy chocolatey prize for all their hardwork! They burnt off so much energy here and were ravenous by the time our starters came out. We picked the sharing platter and the spicy chicken wings both of which went down a treat! The roasts were simply delicious, Blaine loved the turkey and gammon, he said they were mouthwatering. It was so nice not to have to cook a roast myself with the added bonus of no washing up afterwards either! Last but by no means least we all tried @brewersfayre limited edition Cadbury CrΓ¨me egg sundae, they are Β£5.99 each and it tasted truly incredible! The best sundae we have ever tasted π π£ The Easter egg hunt is taking place at over 85 Brewers Fayre sites across the country running throughout the day from 29th - 31st March. The hunt is usually free however a standard Β£4.50 per child fee does occur when held at play-at-sites which also includes 90 minutes of play too.

Had an amazing day out in the gorgeous sunshine βοΈ with mater and pater yesterday at Hever Castle in Kent. Hever Castle gardens are known for their daffodil displays and it didnβt disappoint. The flowers were stunning. There were lots of fragrant hyacinths, pretty camellias, rhododendrons and magnolias too. The Italian Garden was a highlight for me as it looked over the lake. The castle was fascinating. So many interesting items from the 1500s and 1600s. The tour guide was fantastic and entertained us with lots of spooky ghost π» stories. We went for a lakeside walk in the afternoon and in total we walked 7 miles around the estate. We topped off our day with a lovely meal at The Millstream in Hitchin once we got off the coach. Plus they have writing competitions for all ages, workshops, spoken word, slam poetry, book signings for both adults and children. This festival first appeared in 2018. We went to St Maryβs of Charity Church to see Rob Biddulph a fantastic childrenβs author and illustrator. Some of our favourite books of his include Odd Dog Out, The Blue Footed Booby and Gigantic. We found out the answers to the top five questions he gets asked the most, we also learnt how to draw a panda in a hula skirt, which was incredibly fun! This was a great event and Rob Biddulph was absolutely lovely! Blaine hasnβt stopped drawing since we got back home, he has really inspired Blaine not to give up on learning to draw βοΈ Has your little one got a favourite author or illustrator? πβ¨

It dates back to Anglo Saxon times when it is thought it was probably used as a drinking hole for livestock. It has also gained the distinction of being 'Roundabout of the Year' in 2014. We really canβt wait to take a break from our usual routine, the weather lately has been fantastic and we are ready to explore! If youβre looking for ideas on places to go with your little ones we highly recommend checking out the Shell Grotto in Margate Kent, we visited last year and it was absolutely mesmerising! The Grotto was discovered in 1835 and its curving chalk walls are studded with 4.6 million shells. Mostly made up of cockles, whelks, mussels and oysters creating a swirling profusion of beautiful patterns and symbols. No one quite knows who made it but thereβs loads of fascinating theories! They also have a lovely museum room before the Grotto filled with wonderful items from their archive. And a small but perfectly formed collection of shell art from around the world on display too. Their shop is not to be missed either, They have a fantastic T-Rex head made from Shells named Flossie on display, they also have many wonderful items for sale including loads of beautiful shells! Sea creatures teddies and beautiful home furnishings, I love my new crab hand towel holder! Theyβre open everyday during the February halfterm between 11.00-16.00 and theyβre running their kids go free offer over the half term too! From 10-18th February, children under 16 go free with a paying adult. They will have family craft activities themed around the Chinese New Year, you can make your very own dragon mobile inspired by the Grottoβs shell patterns π²π The grotto is narrow with delicate walls and steps to go down, so not suitable for a buggy or a wheelchair. This was our very first visit to Wildwood Canterbury and the atmosphere was incredible. Our starters were astonishing! I had the seared garlic tiger prawns and they were out of this world good π For our mains, I went for the Sea and Mountains heart-shaped pizza, it was adorable π₯° my other half picked the love shack burger, it tasted exquisite! I must admit, I kept taking bites out of his dinner π thankfully our dessert was a sharing for two dish, it was simply stunning to look at and tasted as good as it looks! It included cookie cheesecake, chocolate soufflΓ©, vanilla ice cream, raspberry sorbet, fresh raspberries, chocolate sauce, mint and even edible flowers πΈ We had an amazing time and the food was insanely delicious. Iβd highly recommend booking a table this valentines! It was our very first time checking out a Christmas light trail and we loved every minute of it! The magical trail takes you around the grounds of the castle with stunning light displays filling each little nook possible. Blaineβs favourite part was the interactive lights and sounds display, it was hard getting him away from it π Ivaβs most treasured experience was definitely toasting the marshmallows on the fire pits which you can find halfway through the trail. The event had free parking, a great selection of scrumptious food & drink stalls before the trail and in the middle to choose from. The trail took us just over an hour to walk around, There were so many fantastic photo opportunities along the way too. Blaine really really enjoyed this experience and wants to go again this year!
