👑 When the “Walk Yourself Happy” Queen herself, @juliabradbury, requests you take a walk along the coast for her, you take a walk along the coast 😌 🐶 I had a cheeky afternoon off from work and took myself and Purdy for a stroll from St Agnes Head, down towards Chapel Porth, and then back around via Wheal Coates. It was bliss and very much needed 🙌🏾 ☀️ The past few days I’ve been feeling a little meh. Various reasons. Nothing untoward. Just feelings of meh. And as Julia so rightly says, the best thing for me to do is to go and “Walk Myself Happy.” 🍃 And that’s exactly what I’ve done. I’ve taken myself to my favourite place, with my favourite little being (Purdy!) and done the thing that makes me the happiest…I walked and I walked and I walked. 🙏🏼 I couldn’t go for miles because my girl isn’t up for it these days, but it was enough to get the heart rate up, the lungs filled with good Cornish air, and to bring back those feelings of joy that only walking can give me when I’m in this headspace. 🌺 I’m now sat in the car as Purdy snoozes, about to do a bit of journalling as I face out to sea, and reflect a little on these feelings of meh, and remind myself why pushing a little extra to do something, like going for a walk when I’m in a funk, is ALWAYS the best tonic to putting a bounce back in my step again. 🥾 It’s also National Walking Month so I’m going to make an extra effort to ensure I’m getting out every single day throughout May for a walk, whether that’s a 20-minute lunchtime pootle, or an all day hike along the coast. Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Steps. Royal Albert Hall, South Kensington, London. TAKEN- Tue 13th Dec'22 The steps located on the south side of the Hall are situated on the former position of the South Kensington Royal Horticultural Society garden’s conservatory, which provided refreshments and facilities to the Hall’s visitors in the nineteenth century. The conservatory and gardens were demolished in 1889 and a road was built to encircle the Hall, with the South Steps, as they were known, leading down to Prince Consort Road. The steps as they are seen today were formed during the Hall’s redevelopment project carried out between 1998 and 2004. The works saw the original stone steps and balustrade entirely removed to allow for excavation to accommodate plant rooms, dressing rooms, an underground loading bay and other services for the venue. On 9 November 2013, ahead of the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance, the Hall’s Patron HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh attended a ceremony to rename the steps the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Steps. It has a seating capacity of 5,272. Since the hall's opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world's leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage. It is the venue for the BBC Proms concerts, which have been held there every summer since 1941. It is host to more than 390 shows in the main auditorium annually, including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, film screenings with live orchestral accompaniment, sports, awards ceremonies, school and community events, and charity performances and banquets. A further 400 events are held each year in the non-auditorium spaces. Over its 153-year history, the hall has hosted people from various fields, including meetings held by suffragettes, speeches from Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, and Albert Einstein, fights by Lennox Lewis, exhibition bouts by Muhammad Ali, and concerts from regular performers at the venue such as Eric Clapton and Shirley Bassey. All the ingredients came together last week as I photographed these ducklings out with daddy duck feeding on Bolam Lake in Northumberland. I spent days trying to get this shot, waiting for the right quality of light to hit the tree at the right angle and then hope something, maybe a native swan, would swim into the right side of the frame. Never dreamt I would get this lucky though as, after earlier thinking I'd missed the shot, the family of ducks waited to swim back into view until after I'd finished setting up. TAKEN- Tue 13th Dec'22 The Churchill Arms is a public house at 119 Kensington Church Street on the corner with Campden Street, Notting Hill, London. There has been a pub on the site since at least the late nineteenth century. Previously known as the "Church-on-the-Hill", the pub received its current name after the Second World War. It is known for its exuberant floral displays, and extravagant Christmas displays in the winter, and has been described as London's most colourful pub. The Churchill Arms is managed by Fuller's and has a Winston Churchill interior theme. The Churchill Arms claims to have been the first London pub with a Thai restaurant, having served such food since the early 1990s or earlier. The Thai restaurant is decorated with live flowers and plants. The pub is decorated with all types of things associated with Winston Churchill, and falsely claims that Churchill made wartime broadcasts from the venue. I returned to my favourite wild garlic wood yesterday evening in the hope of getting ‘foggy’ looking photos. It was raining very hard and the low cloud drifted in and out of the wood so quickly that within seconds you were in ‘fog’ and then complete clearness. The low cloud drifted in at different points of the wood so I had to keep turning around and looking to chase it. All the while, constantly wiping heavy rain drops off my lens and slipping and sliding on the mud. Boy it was challenging but boy, it was also so much fun!
