What does a newborn session look like? It’s a session where we “go with the flow”. How we start depends on what your baby needs, and if there are siblings then it depends on their moods too. If the siblings want to be involved right away, then we jump right in and get those moments before they pass. If siblings need a little longer to warm up before being photographed, that’s ok too-and we’ll just focus on baby for a while. It’s usually at this time the siblings WANT to be involved simply because they’re not being asked to be involved. Kid psychology…it’s nuts ya’ll! If your baby is sleeping, we’ll start with you holding the baby, or getting some detail shots. If your baby needs fed, we’ll start with that. If your baby is unsettled, then we’ll go with whatever makes him or her happy. Wishing you all a restful, restorative, and Happy New Year. As I reflect on this last year, there have been so many changes professionally and personally. I’ve hit some year milestones - 1 year in Bend (today!), 5 year business anniversary, 15 years of marriage, 40 years of age. Professionally I have had to take a step back after our move due to the nature of my primary genre and not having a full-time studio. It has been an adjustment to be patient during this renovation as is imaginable, but also fulfilling to do work on special projects, new and limited series, and behind the scenes work, while also settling into Bend and enjoying our new community. I’ve made some personal goals for the new year and will be making some adjustments professionally to accommodate those, and I think it will be positive all around. I look forward to sharing more once all the details are ironed out. I get so many messages asking about "newborn" mini sessions, and I wish I could offer them! . But the truth is, newborn sessions require a little more time because these adorable babies can be quite unpredictable. . But don't worry! My newborn sessions are like sweet and fun "baby-led" adventures. We take all the time we need to capture these sweet moments. . We'll do close-ups, shots of the baby alone, with the proud parents, and even with super cute siblings and pets if desired. . And of course, we'll take little breaks for the baby to rest or nurse and let’s face it … momma just had a baby, that's a huge adjustment... mommas also need a moment sometimes too. . I've got a fantastic collection of newborn clothing and props to make the whole experience even more enjoyable! .
