Bennett Springs State Park is such a beautiful place. The water from the spring that goes into the stream is as crystal clear as it is in a bottle of water. It looks so refreshing but the rules state that you cannot get wet unless you have waders on. This is the place to be if you like flyfishing. The stream is packed full of trout. You can see them so clearly that I think you could count how many dots that they have. Bennett Springs State Park MO Pennant with Fishing Lure (Rooster Tail) Story Time: I grew up really close to Bennett Springs State Park and spent a lot of my childhood there fishing for trout. So I was shocked when I found this Pennant is an antique store in St.Louis MO. What is cool about this Pennant is that it is believed to date back to the 1940s. I added one of my favorite fishing lures to it, a red and white rooster tail. Design: This Pennants was sewn down to an acid free corked matboard and resembled the gravel in a river bed. I used red thread to show my craftsmanship. The frame is a rustic white traditional frame moulding. UV glass was use to protect the pennant from further damage because it was in pretty rough condition when I found it. Over Thanksgiving our family went to the Lake of the Ozarks. All three of our kids love to fish and spend much of their spare time at a river fishing. Our middle son has taught himself how to fly fish. For about two years he has worked on his cast, teaching himself in our front yard and practicing on lakes, creeks and streams. The range of emotions a fisherman feels is quite large. The frustration of a broken line, a snag on the first cast, losing a favorite lure, or the high of catching a lunker. On this trip we were close to a class One fishing spot called #bennettspringstatepark . All of us went to fish but they have specific days open for trout fishing and we weren’t allowed to fish in the park at all on the day we went. We had to go to an adjacent river and my oh my the river and stream were beautiful. We saw tons of trout, otter, turtles and the clearest water. The conditions were perfect but all of us left without a single catch and the feeling of irritation was unanimous. The next morning only fly fishing was allowed on the creek within the state park and we have only one fly fisherman in our family so he and I went back to fish for a short time. After observing the feeding habits of the trout he selected flies he thought would work. Our fly fisherman left that day having caught and released three rainbow trout. 😍I was struck by their beautiful coloring, the clarity of the water and his realization of a dream!
