Red buckeye (Aesculus pavia) appreciation post. SLPA has a great collection of buckeyes (genus Aesculus), and red buckeye and it’s cultivars are real eye catchers in spring. Photos 1-2 are of the typical species. 3-4 are Aesculus pavia ‘Biltmore’, 5-6 A. pavia ‘Splendens’, 7-8 A. pavia ‘Fishtail’ a variegated leaf form, and 9-10 is a varietal from found in central Texas on the Edwards Plateau - A. pavia var. flavescens.
