This is Yemen šš¾šŖ the beautiful side you never see on the news. In between Somalia and the mainland Yemen on the Indian Ocean near the Gulf of Aden, there is a remote island called Socotra. This is such a unique destinationā¦. only a couple thousand travelers visit this island each year. To get here, fly to Abu Dhabi and take a 2 hour charter flight to Socotra. There are only two flights per week and itās not easy to book as there are only about 100 seats per flight. A guide is necessary to get the visa and also to have someone to look after you on the island since there are no rental car agencies and the infrastructure is still very poorly developed here. There is no internet service on most of the island so be prepared to be cut off from the world(it was lovely). I spent a week camping under the stars and the majestic Dragon Blood trees of Socotra. Trees that have been around for centuries and only exist on this island. Being here felt like being on a different planet and going back in time to a simpler way of life. I loved meeting the locals and learning about the culture here. The Yemeni people definitely have a special place in my heart ā¤ļø I pray for peace for the people of this country who have been experiencing one of the largest humanitarian crisisā in the world for a long time and are suffering so much. I am so grateful for this experience and proud of myself for pushing through the fears of traveling alone to a country that is experiencing conflict & instability. The island is separated from the conflict of the war on the mainland and I felt completely safe everywhere I went here. Even sleeping in a tent, never once did I have a worry here. The guides were wonderful and I highly recommend the company I used for this trip. @toursocotra This trip was pure MAGIC!

I went on a wonderful coffee farm tour in Colombia and my biggest take away was how horrible decaf coffee is for you. In order to create it, they have to essentially bleach out the caffeine which takes away a lot of the flavour and then they proceed to add more chemicals to give it an artificial flavor. There are limited regulations when testing it afterwards so if you drink decaf coffee, you are basically drinking water with poison.
