1/10 📍Smith Rock State Park, Oregon L’Oregon c’est LA bonne surprise de ce début de voyage sur la Côte-Ouest américaine. On ne s’attendait pas à autant de paysages riches et diversifiés 🤩 ! On a commencé par la côte et sa fameuse route 101 avec notamment : Cannon Beach, Cape Meares, Cape Kiwanda Sand Dune et Devils Punchbowl Arch 📸 Puis, on s’est enfoncé dans les terres à la découverte des roches volcaniques de Newberry, des couches colorées des différentes époques géologiques de Painted Hills et du Smith Rock State Park, un de nos coups de cœur de ce début de voyage 🌋. Alors, oui, la météo, en particulier sur la côte, est sacrément capricieuse ! Mais, même la pluie et le brouillard n’ont pas gâché notre plaisir de découvrir cet état 🌧️. The Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint is definitely one of the stops you must do if you’re planning a road trip along the Oregon Coast Trail. It offers breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean. It is approximately 105 ft tall and has a circumference of around 46 ft. Uniquely, it has no primary trunk and is estimated to be 250-300 years old. A medium sized parking lot at the top of Cape Meares is connected not only to the Octopus Tree trail (which is less than a quarter of a mile) but a short trail to the Cape Meares lighthouse. We love spending time at Cape Meares and it’s just a short 5 minute drive from the lodge. There are easy hikes, INCREDIBLE views and a light house! There are also two very special *old growth* trees in that area and it’s worth a trip to check them out!
