Captain BS Sodhi was awarded General Bipin Rawat Trophy, for the most Spirited Officer and standing first in overall order of merit. Colonel P Lokchandar was awarded the CNS Gold Medal for the Best Dissertation and Captain Amitabh Saxena was awarded the C-in-C West Silver Medal for the second best dissertation. Captain D Chakrapani was awarded C-in-C South Silver medal for the best Operations Research Paper while Captain Gaurav Rana was awarded C-in-C East Silver Medal for the second best paper. Book Prizes for meritorious performance were awarded to Captain Anish Mathew and Capt Nirmal Raghu. This was the first NHCC course to graduate from the new admin-cum-training complex of the NWC, #Chola Bhawan. The new #stateoftheart infrastructure was inaugurated by the Hon'ble RM Shri Rajnath Singh on 05 March 2024. During the course, the participating officers undertook research on a wide variety of subjects of #strategic and #operational importance to the nation in general and #ArmedForces in particular. Eligible officers also worked towards the award of degree in Defence and Strategic Studies. I was commissioned by the #GVK in 2014 to conceive an iconic installation in the airport terminal they had developed. The #Ashtamangala installation in the aiport refers to the notion of eight auspicious offerings, transformed into eight sculptures in the #Chola sculptural tradition of Tamil Nadu. The work combines two emblematic traditional art forms of South India, #MysorePainting, by the team led by artist, MS Anand with Chola-style bronze sculptures of Tamil Nadu crafted by AS Sambandhamurthy's workshop. The sculptures are placed in front of a monumental Mysore painting, typified by their use of colours combined with gold as an embellishment on relief work done in the Gesso style using a paste made from powdered neem seeds. The large figures were painted on planks of jackfruit wood, and the finished installation was placed in the airport at a height and could be seen from both sides. The celestial beings at the front greeted the travellers who had alighted and the Garuda on the reverse welcomed them to the skies. At 6pm today, I will be conducting a #walkthrough on my public art exhibition: Reimagining Traditions, Art inspired by Heritage at the Art Gallery, Kamaladevi Complex, India International Centre.
