This was my first Monroe encounter, and I still remember the occasion. I was on a sick day from grade school and watched it from bed. It was on Bill Kennedy at the Movies, which aired every weekday afternoon in Detroit. I was utterly transfixed...and that was on my little black & white TV. It wasn't til decades later I realized it was in splendorous Technicolor and wide CinemaScope which allowed me to relive the experience all over again. It was probably my first Mitchum film come to think of it, and likely where my appreciation for fishnet stockings began too! Speloncato, Balagne, Corse (20) Nouveau défi : photographier la Corse fin mars avec un ciel d’abord laiteux, puis totalement couvert et enfin envahi de sable du Sahara… On commence par un tour en Balagne. Dressé sur un piton rocheux, Speloncato domine et veille sur la verdoyante vallée du Reginu tout en regardant la mer. Son architecture est défensive : passages voûtés, dédale de ruelles étroites, maisons hautes qui, il y peu de temps encore, ne comportaient pas de fenêtres au rez-de-chaussée. Afin d’atténuer l’aspect un peu plat de la composition (lumière de dos et peu de perspectives), j’ai attendu de noyer dans l’ombre le premier plan et le passage d’un rapace dans le ciel alors que la lune surgissait de derrière la crête de montagne. C’est une lumière du soir.
