🚨 soup season!! I was influenced by @tomhorgen and went to Tay Ho in St. Paul! I know Pho is all the rage but real talk, I think I like this more! I followed in his footsteps and got the mi hoanh thanh which is a egg noodle, bbq pork and wonton soup! I was lucky enough to be joined by @eatclectic for this trip where we chatted Asian cuisine, the foodie culture in MN and smaller food spots like Tay Ho! Be on the lookout for some cool posts! Back to the food… this soup… the pork broth had such a nice flavor, it was rich but not heavy (if that makes sense) I loved the noodles and the pork! And then the wontons… just little bites of joy! Oh and the kicker was the crispy fried garlic!! Just little crunch flavor bombs! I would highly recommend this soup and will urge you to hit this place up! The staff was super nice and treated each customer like family… think the vibe of being at your auntie’s house! Side note, the egg rolls were nice… rolled tight, and that crunch was A+! The hype is real for @saturdaydumplingclub and last week I was able to get to a popup that they did at @fairstatecoop The dumplings are really good and the team behind them couldn’t be nicer! They form a nice little crust on the outside and then the fillings are packed with flavor! They have a really nice dipping sauce that has a little spice but nothing that should stop anyone for using it!! I would always recommend to get as many as you can because they go quickly and you can never have to many dumplings. Normally they do a Wednesday order for a Saturday pickup and they are usually gone in minutes! So be ready and follow them for updates! I’m hoping they do another popup soon as fresh made dumplings are hard to beat, but get there early as the line was out the door and down the street! Soo you all know I love @animalesbarbequeco but I’m telling you they keep innovating and making things interesting! I love their bbq, but recently I’ve been drawn to their other offerings from meatballs to lettuce wraps and this time their Beef Birria Tacos (with consommé, ALWAYS). I truly think the quality and variety of food that they do is a large reason I continue to come back over and over again! Plus the cold beers next door at @ablebrewery and the treats at @mnicecream in the back, add to the whole situation! Open air seating is plentiful and parking lot tailgating is perfection! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •The Foods: these Birria tacos are awesome, the cheesy crunch is perfect! Enough to have that taco crunch vibe but soft enough to be pliable without falling a part everywhere. The meat and minimal toppings (the correct way to have a taco) are super flavorful and juicy! Three of these might not be enough! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ please note to always use limes and always dip the tacos into the consommé! So I know I’m super late to the game but I finally got over to @unionhmongkitchen this last weekend and got to experience their food! And wow!! I continue to be so impressed with everything I eat from @chefyiavang ! Their online check out and pick up process are super slick and painless! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Hours of operation: Monday-Friday from 4-7pm and Saturday/Sunday from 3-7pm! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •The Foods: everything was really good! I love food that is cooked with open fire, there’s just a different vibe and taste to it, which came across in the bbq pork! It had that fire cooked char and flavor which just screams summer eatin! The egg rolls were crunchy on the outside and warm on the inside! They were stuffed with the perfect amount so as to not be too large and to get that perfect bite every time ! And can we talk about root veggies, so underrated! Just beautiful flavor and crunch/texture! I had to go back to @animalesbarbequeco this weekend to grab some pork belly which was not available the last time I went! If you haven’t had their pork belly yet, you need to try it ASAP, it’s one of my favorite bites of food EVER! We got some bacon this time to kick it up a notch (not needed but welcomed) and look at the thickness of that slice!! This is how it looked straight out of the box.... cheesy goodness, crispy burger edges and glorious bacon! It’s that time of year and I tend to have a lot of time these days, so why not a have good ribeye and sides! With everything that’s been going on, here’s a little food hack I’ve been trying and I think it’s been working well! As we are all trying to support our local restaurants and at the same time trying to make less grocery trips, I’ve been trying the following: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I’m able to go out I order a little extra, this helps the restaurant as it creates a larger order than normal but also can give me some leftovers that I can use later that week! I know this isn’t a new idea by me, but found it super helpful!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Recently I did that with @revivalmn and their Tennessee hot fried chicken! The first leftover meal I made was a BLT but added their chicken to it and held it all together with some cheese! Annnndd let me tell you, it was awesome!! The second way I used it was to “spruce” up some instant ramen! This helped because I didn’t have a lot in the pantry/fridge to make a proper ramen so this added a protein and even gave the overall soup a little spice! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are you all doing this?
