The pork chashu and poached egg added such a savory depth of flavor to the dish. For a kick of spice, order the Tan Tan Mazesoba, which is filled with a rich umami flavor. As a bonus, they give you a little bowl of rice to mix in with the rest of your sauce— an excellent way to end the meal🍜🤤. Wild garlic - part 5 Greens are my favorite part of any meal, from herbs to alliums to crunchy veg. I love my daily greens! This cold soba salad was a great vehicle for all those greens. This had wild garlic, julienned cucumber and daikon, fresh peas, and cilantro. Everything got tossed in a dressing of sesame paste, miso, soy sauce, and mirin.
🤴A good start to my trip 🍜 My first stop in Taipei this time was to Gloria Outlets close by to Tao Yuan International Airport. Despite my love for shopping, I still had to eat, and I chose to go to this food court whereby food choices were more broad and chose a Japanese ramen. 🍜 To my biggest surprise, this ramen was actually very impressive. I suppose I generally set my standards lower for outlet foods, perhaps that’s something many of you do as well. And perhaps, because of this, this noodle really managed to impress me, but that said, I really must admit that it’s pretty good. 🍜 Firstly, it was very very hot, which soup noodles are supposed to be when served. Secondly the soup tonkotsu soup base was tasty, but wasn’t too fat or salty. Whether or not it’s freshly boiled or whether it’s merely a packet which one adds water to form the soup doesn’t matter, so long it tasted good. 🍜 I also really enjoyed the noodles which were quite hard and very chewy, but smooth on the surface, hence susceptible to being soaked in soup for a longer period of time. It’s a noodle I haven’t quite experienced at Japanese Ramen shops before, therefore really one of a kind. The piece of pork was a bit coarse and cold, and neither was the egg very good, but never mind those. On the other hand, I like the generous amounts of chopped spring onions, bean sprouts and wood ear fungus that occasionally hung on to the noodles to give it that crunchy texture.
