Food and random pics from trip with Leo — Picture 1 was sausages and lunch at the Frankfurt airport. I had to work harder this trip than the last time I was in Germany (25 years ago) to find sausage stands and get my sausage fix. 😍Train stations now have more pastry and sandwich stands than sausage vendors. Picture 2 was a great poster for advertising the types of pick pocketers there are (I wish I had education like that my first trip into NYC alone when I was 18😆). Picture 3 is the popular “currywurst” which is bratwurst cut up with a sweet curry sauce (and of course a brat with no bun since I’m not a huge fan of carbs 😄). Picture 4 — fun fact: the Kolsch beer in Cologne is “All You Can Drink”. If you don’t put a coaster on top of your glass, they will keep bringing you more. 🍺Picture 6 — Belgian waffles in Brussels: 😍❤️😍🧇they make them with a pearl sugar that explodes with flavor in one’s mouth and the texture is more dense and flavorful than what Americans know as “Belgian waffles”. Picture 7 - “bitterballen” in Amsterdam. Had no idea what it was when I ordered it. I’m glad it was not strong fishy something. It was stew in a ball and deep fried. 🤔Texture is best described as mushy inside. Picture 8 — avocado fries at a restaurant dedicated entirely to avocados in Amsterdam ( #theavocadoplace). Picture 9 was schnitzel in Germany. Breaded and fried meat with a red pepper sauce to pour on top. Picture 10 is our Condor plane — they like stripes! 😎 #foodadventures

A simple lunch today, after my quick visit to the library. Hokkien prawn noodles, quickly stir-fried with egg in a large wok, with crunchy beansprouts and chives, bits of squid and a couple of tail-on prawns. A splash of tangy chilli sauce for taste, as well as lime for extra freshness (you can see it in the photo). I squeezed it over the noodles before mixing everything together.
