D3500 | S01E02 | Caldo A Colori Accecanti Vi assicuro che le nostre energie si dissipano facilmente per il caldo quasi insopportabile, nonostante siamo spronati ad addentrarci in queste zone per l’immensa bellezza caratteristica di questi luoghi, insieme alla nostra voglia di scoprire sempre di più. Noi siamo arrivati nel periodo più fresco, fanno 43°C. Altrimenti, di norma sono sempre intorno ai 50°C, non di meno! Per fortuna il caldo qui è molto secco, il che lo rende particolarmente sopportabile. Non come in pianura padana, dove sia il caldo che il freddo sventrano le ossa. Questa regione di sale della Dancalia è caratterizzata da colori affascinanti, che sembrano essere usciti da un sogno. Dall’arancione/rosso fluo, al verde fluo al bianco ghiaccio. Piscine naturali e geyser bollenti circondati dal suolo rossastro di sale cocente. Tutto questo per un’immensa distesa di terra apparentemente infinita. La Dancalia risiede nella regione degli Afar, o Dáncali, che sono la tribù di appartenenza dell’uomo col fucile nella foto. Gli afar sono una popolazione affascinante e allo stesso tempo scontrosa che vive nei villaggi in totale contatto con la natura. Si vestono con tessuti molto colorati e sgargianti, hanno attenta cura dei loro capelli, che trattano con burro e oli derivanti dalle piante; sono persone molto belle e attraenti. Molto attaccati alle cerimonie e ai riti. Purtroppo però è difficile dire loro di no, sono autoritari e bellicosi. Per esempio, una volta era loro consuetudine adempiere ad una cerimonia molto affascinante. Quando un uomo e una donna decidevano di sposarsi, l’uomo andava in cerca di un maschio di una tribù rivale, o più semplicemente di uno straniero, per tagliargli lo scrot* e donarlo alla damigella a casa. Hanno cessato questa pratica rituale per volontà politica, non loro. D3500 | S01E01 | Mare Di Sale L'Etiopia è un paese meraviglioso da un sacco di punti di vista. Oltre ad essere per me una seconda casa è anche la culla della vita. Penso sia l'unico luogo che io abbia mai visitato dove è presente una così vasta biodiversità. Mia madre, mia sorella ed io intraprendiamo questo viaggio il 29 Dicembre 2019, esattamente 4 anni e 4 mesi fa, per ritornare a Gennaio del 2020. Lì ci spostiamo da una regione all'altra in macchina, viaggiando per ore e ore, attraversando ambienti estremamente diversificati l'uno dall'altro: si passa dal deserto arido alle foreste con fiumi e laghi, da zone vulcaniche ad aperte campagne, dalla giungla ad immense distese di sabbia dove migliaia di anni fa c'era il mare, fino ad arrivare ai villaggi contadini con i famosi tucul (o bi̯ē´t in amarico, la lingua etiope), che sono case circolari con un tetto conico di paglia, fatte di argilla, fango, bastoni di legno e alle volte di pietra. Nelle foto ci troviamo in Dancalia, una regione molto speciale. Una volta arrivati qui, siamo rimasti tutti e tre perplessi alla vista di quella che sembra essere acqua, dato che non può esserci acqua nel deserto. Ha senso no? E poi così tanta! Le guide ci spiegano che con il caldo, tutto il sale di cui è fatto il terreno subisce un cambio di stato della materia. Da solido si trasforma in liquido…Si scioglie! Siamo rimasti a bocca aperta. Festeggiamo il capodanno in questo luogo magico, con persone meravigliose da tutto il mondo, sotto la Luna e Giove. Finendo quella notte dormendo su brande di legno all’aperto, sotto il cielo stellato più bello che io abbia mai osservato a occhio nudo. Un’esperienza indimenticabile! PS.
