Oxytocin is the hormone released in our brains when we experience positive interactions with each other, the more physically close we get to another person the more is released. This social chemical has great benefits for physical and mental health regardless of your age or life stage. These include lowering the heart rate and blood pressure and even repairing damaged arteries. The mother and baby relationship is fuelled by oxytocin. The receptors in a pregnant woman’s brain increase, and it’s the hormone that actually starts the labour process. After birth oxytocin surges allowing mum and baby to create their special bond through that closeness. Bonding is one of the key things we focus on during our Baby Tranquil Course, giving you time, space and the opportunity to try some simple activities to encourage and support this process, boosting the production of oxytocin in your brain and also in your baby’s.
