I am absolutely gutted and heartbroken but just home from having to say goodbye to my best friend Dashy. Told late morning, no matter how much I was willing to get anything and everything done for him, he was not going to make it. I had to be there for him as he always was for me. So the two of us cuddled and kissed and he opened his eyes for me and tried to wag his tail even though had been warned he may not know I was there. I lay on the floor with him, kissing him and telling him how much we loved him and he had his eyes open hearing me until he was gone. My heart is broken. Our Dashy Dash needs allllll the love, positive thoughts and prayers anyone has to give. We had to take him to vet today as he had been sick to stomach, super normal for him, but then was NOT looking good. After hours there my partner was told pancreatitis, probably from rotten food. In the past people have thrown stuff in backyard and with the baby, now that it’s spring, people out back again and I forgot to do morning and late night checks!! I feel so guilty. My baby boy! He was sent to an emergency vet after 5 hours and loads of antibiotics to try to prevent sepsis where they have overnight care. We’ve been warned he may not make it. He got to stop by on way for cuddles and to get his blankie and stuffie I had dressed in my worn shirt then rushed off with iv still in. Wasn’t allowed take due to Covid 😢. Raining day = sick day = my self-trained service dog/soul mate glued to me 🥰😍🐾🦮! And people say I rescued him 🤣😂🤣!!! We adopted him prior to my big fall that was start of chronic illness battle that took YEARS to finally diagnose (just a few months back) as not just a brain or ear injury that could be fixed with surgery. THIS angel face doesn’t leave my side on ANY sick day! Has to be dragged away to eat or go out 🐾❤️. Humans don’t deserve the unconditional love and devotion of dogs, which is why I’ll always find money to support rescue organizations and shelters like where we adopted him and our newest family member Stormie even when not making money thanks to stupid illness!
