Und dann sieht er ihn…..auf der anderen Seite….weiße Bermudas, kariertes kurzärmeliges Hemd, Socken in den Sandalen, Cap auf dem Kopf, steht er da und lächelt, bereit zum Gassi gehen. Das kann doch nicht wahr sein, Opa!…wo warst Du denn so lange?!?….freut sich Jomi. „Jomi komm!“ ertönt es wieder. Du bist lustig denkt sich Jomi, ich bin doch seit Tagen viel zu müde um aufzustehen, aber ich würde so gerne mit Dir Gassi gehen, zumal es da doch alle 100 Meter ein Gutti gibt. Also rafft sich Jomi auf und versucht hoch zu kommen. Er ist erstaunt, dass es heute so gut klappt. Eine Pfote vor die andere läuft er mit kräftigen Beinen los in Richtung Opa. Die Regenbogenbrücke schillert und glitzert in all Ihren Farben als er darüber springt. „Na mein Gutster, da bist Du ja endlich“. Leaving West Virginia today with a heavy heart. This week we laid to rest one of my favorite humans in the world. Sis was like a mother to me, since before I could walk. I cherish the memories we have. I was lucky enough to be by her side as she took her last breath and I thank God that it was peaceful. Sadly, we said goodbye to a few of our Awesome Team last week in Bundaberg and Toowoomba so they can go off on new adventures. All 3 have been amazing with the CAC Team and all of our wonderful Participants!! Adam is moving away from Toowoomba with his lovely wife Rhylea. Adam has been an amazing CAC Team member right from the start, beginning as a Support Team member in Bundaberg before moving to Toowoomba and developing CAC's support base before the Hub and Toowoomba branch were established. Adam has been super popular with his Participants and his fellow Team members and quickly became a Team Leader before being appointment to the role of Team Engagement Coordinator. Ben is one of our wonderful Support Team from Bundaberg and I am sure that he will be sincerely missed. Ben is a quiet achiever and has been integral to assisting with the day-to-day running of the Hub activities and group programs and is definitely a favourite of all of our Participants. Although Ben is heading overseas we hope he will head back one day for a visit, or maybe stay. Ali is another Toowoomba Team member we are sad to see go. Ali has only been with us for a relatively short time, but she has made a big impact and brought a lot of positive energy to the Hub working in the reception area and helping out with Participants, group activities and keeping an eye on the Car Wash. Pet loss warning ⚠️ 😞 This one is a little out of the blue, as I haven't shared here for a very long time. In August it will be 2 years since Saki passed away, and I couldn't bring myself at the time to post about it, it was too devastating. Now, 18+ months on it's easier to talk about but I miss her and love her no less. Saki had a rare form of epithelial lymphoma. It started in her gums as a red raised lesion. From the time we found out to the day she passed was 10 months. She was just shy of 13 years old. She was the best dog I've ever had, ever met, and I think quite possibly the best one there will ever be (although all dogs are the best dogs). So, in tribute of this beautiful girl I make this post. To say goodbye, and to say hello again. I want to return to regular posting. Gibbs is still with me and deserves to be seen, he is a marvellous little dude and deserves a platform! On Friday night we had to say goodbye to our sweet Bailey. Her health declined significantly that day and we knew her poor little body couldn’t fight off everything that was going on. We took her and her sister in when they were 7 months old. They were born feral and were super scared at the shelter and had no interest in wanting to be touched so we took them in and added them to our friendly cat room. Raven and Simba were the best big brothers to them. After a while Bailey decided she loved being pet and getting attention. Kayley took a lot longer and still only occasionally will let us pet her. The last dog was bathed at Doogie’s today! His name is Remmie. The first time I met him I gave him a bath and felt a mass on his chest. I showed his dad and he immediately took him to the vet. They referred him to Madison and 2 weeks or so later Remmie had surgery and they removed a large cancerous mass. 2/14/24 Remmie turned 13 years young! I never thought this would happen but it did. Five weeks ago, I gave birth to my son & also said goodbye to my dad. It’s never how I thought life would happen… I wanted my dad to enjoy his grandson & life to continue on with new memories, laughs & happy moments. He was an amazing piano player, loved his farm tractors, had a sense of humor like no one else I’ve ever met, & loved the simple things in life. Our sweet gentle Jack has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I am just gutted with the loss of our darling boy with the curly tail! Jack the Puggle was a total gentleman in every way. He loved to be snuggled, he adored long walks so he could sniff EVERYTHING.. (his nose for news could suss out a sandwich 2 miles away!!) He loved cuddling with his pals Hovis and Howard as they were the dynamic trio! He tolerated Kevin, but was always kind to him! LOL..Jack was always so well behaved and full of manners.. didn’t like his nails clipped, but who does!?🤣 He was just an owners dream. He will be so missed in our house..💔 I have loved every minute of Jack being in our family. He was truly such a loving and gentle boy. Our hearts are really hurting right now but I know he is free of the pain and is hopefully frolicking with Hovis and Howard at the Rainbow Bridge!! Jack developed cancer several months back and having to manage the pain meds and life with this horrible disease was hard but Jack made it easy. He continued to eat with gusto, walk and snuggle until yesterday when he let us know it was time to say goodbye.. Sleep well my darling boy.. This was not the post I planned for today 😭💔 We traumatically & abruptly had to say goodbye to our sweet Eddy Janko last night. We adopted her exactly 15 months earlier from a rescue & we were wrecked last night for it to end especially the way it did. She loved to go wherever we went & would follow me from room to room. We don’t think she was ever socialized/played with because she literally had no idea what to do with toys & bones. She simply liked a cozy blanket or bed to rest on. She made the funniest noises/snorts that always made us laugh. I know Jim will miss the way she greeted him every day when he came home from work. What a bittersweet day…. I finally found my place where I felt at home and that I fit in and it has come to an end. If you all know me I'm pretty attached to all of my animals especially my chickens. Yesterday we said goodbye to one of them due to sickness. It's not the same without her but we understand that nature has to take its course and we can't have it all. Our flock is down to 9. Machans Beach 🏝️ is no longer the place I call home. It’s always been an eclectic mix of people; houses + venues. A very unique little seaside community! There aren’t many things that I miss but I miss this place @mayhematmachans . It’s where the locals gather most mornings + we popped down most weekends. The coffee (not that I drank it but Granty did) was always good; the chai’s heartwarming; the food delicious and service - always with a smile! This evening we said goodbye to our sweet boy. It became obvious a few days ago that it was time. Thanks to an amazing in-home vet we were able to be with him to the very ended. He passed peacefully in my arms, surrounded by the four people who loved him more than anything. This post came up in my Facebook feed. Three years ago. I actually thought this post was mistaken. It can’t possibly be three years since we said goodbye. But it is. The day we lost you is indelibly marked on my heart. I remember being at school and getting the message from Bob. I remember turning to a colleague, already weeping, “I think I have to say goodbye to my best friend”. I remember leaving work immediately (forever grateful for a boss that simply said, “Go.”) It was during COVID and they only let you in the clinic if it was the end. When I got there, they met me in the parking lot and took me in to meet you. I remember looking into your eyes at the vet and knowing that I wouldn’t put you through another day of pain. First picture is for the grid, because it will make me cry to see Charlie’s face on here every day. We lost our Charlie girl on Wednesday. She curled up in her bed and went to sleep and never woke up. Charlie was a wild girl. She had crazy hair that she needed help with, so I shaved her once or twice a year. She loved being outside and being alone. She would let us pet her on her terms only but when she did, she would quietly purr. We called her the reading cat because if she was inside and she heard our nightly reading, she would come out of hiding to sit with us. She was an accident, according to her breeder because her mom was very old and wasn’t supposed to have any more kittens but she had Charlie and she was the only one of her litter. She was a tortoiseshell Persian and had the most beautiful glowing orange eyes and the littlest meow you’ve ever heard. I didn’t know it was going to be her last days but I’m so glad it warmed up and she got to go back outside to spend those last two days exactly how she would have wanted. I’ll miss her so much. I’ll miss her while I’m gardening, I’ll miss sitting with her on the driveway at the end of a long summer day. I’ll miss seeing her grumpy face staring into the kitchen window wondering where the hell her food is. Everywhere I look is a reminder of her and it’s really hard to have to let her go. I love you, Charlie. I’ll never forget you. 🥺
