I usually review single malts but staying at the Stonehenge Holiday Inn, Amesbury, I gave the much marketed single grain Haig Club, in its distinctive blue bottle, a try. Haig is one of the oldest whiskies in the world and was the favourite of my grandfather. Now owned by Diageo, Haig Club, is made with only single grain whiskies so very different from the single malts featured on @whiskygoodcompany. David Beckham, no less, is the face of the first new offering from Haig for 30 years. Is it any good? Clynelish 10 Year Old Diageo Special Release Rare and Exceptional Clynelish or “green pasture” is a coastal whisky which is one of the key foundations of Johnny Walker. In this highly-anticipated release, this natural cask strength whisky pays tribute to the to the exchange of ideas, discovery, and inspiration of Scotch whisky and its makers as it expanded to new horizons and the contemporary significance it holds today. This whisky is full bodied (57.5%) honey, wax and creamy vanilla. Opening up to salty brine finishing with warm pepper and a touch of sweetness. A definite pick up for any Clynelish or Highland fans.
I recently had the opportunity, alongside some whisky legends, to be hosted by the great @rarewhiskyraj at @justerinis . Among other stunning whiskies I tasted these two delightful @thesingletonwhisky of Glen Ord whiskies. To me (even though most did not agree!), the winner was the 39-year-old. A whisky that after spending most of its life in an array of European oak casks (port, red wine, px, and oloroso) was later married in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks. On the nose this was incredibly complex showcasing fruit cake, candied orange and nuts. The palate is creamy and full of juicy blackberries, plums and a mellow spice. The finish is really long with some more prominent spiciness, red berries, and some umeboshi. The 38 year old is a marriage of PX, Oloroso, Bourbon, and American Oak aged whiskies. And it is an astonishing whisky too! The nose is full of pastries, vanilla, buttery sweetness and some citrus zest. The palate is creamy and sweet with sponge cake and vanilla frosting, followed by intense fudge notes with some cinnamon. The finish is slightly drying with some pepperiness to it and a wonderful note of apple strudel. Once again, a huge thanks to @rarewhiskyraj for being the best host and to @singlemaltvault for organising an epic gathering.

Tanqueray No. 10 ist ein Premium-Gin, der besonders für seine frischen Zitrusaromen bekannt ist, welche von einer Handvoll sorgfältig ausgewählter Botanicals stammen, darunter Grapefruit, Orange und Limette. Diese werden zusammen mit weiteren traditionellen Botanicals wie Wacholder, Koriander und Kamille in einem kleinen Kupferbrennkessel destilliert, der liebevoll „Tiny Ten“ genannt wird.
