A UKRAINE SUCCESS STORY Focusing on selling deli meats, as well as a variety of locally produced cheese and milk products, Ms. Khrystyna and her mother noticed an increasing demand for grocery products in their community. Notably, the population of the Zolochivskyi region, where Krasne is located, has grown by 14% since February 2022. To meet the growing demand, the entrepreneurs needed larger coolers to boost storage and sales capacity in their family-run store. Thanks to the cooperation between her credit union, Credit Union Anisia, and the @USAID @woccu Credit for Agriculture Producers (CAP) Project, Ms. Khrystyna could apply for a lower-interest loan. More affordable loans to advance business lending for Ukrainian credit union members in wartime were made possible thanks to the US $500,000 Resilience Initiative – a liquidity support program launched earlier this year by the USAID CAP Project and Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions. #ukraine #resilientlivelihoods #doglobalgood #wfcu #usaid #smelending

Traveled to Washington DC last week for a national credit union conference (for those that don't know - I volunteer on the KFCU Board of Directors). I had a little free time and went to re-explore the city... quickly, I found myself caught up in a PEACEFUL demonstration in support of Ukraine. It was quite moving! My heart goes out the the people of Ukraine for the unforgivable circumstances thrust upon them. Spending time in DC, re-visiting all of the memorials reminded me how fortunate I am to live in such freedom, and how thankful I am to those who sacrificed everything to provide it. WOCCU ADVOCATES FOR EU CREDIT UNIONS The European Network of Credit Unions (ENCU) met this week in Brussels to discuss challenges facing credit unions in the European Union (EU), along with some key regulatory items included in Parliament’s legislative term. Eight European Credit Union Associations, along with WOCCU comprise the ENCU, which is a platform built to exchange information between countries that ultimately speaks upon European matters with one voice.
