I know it has been a while since my last post. Honestly, I haven’t been drawing that much because my migraines have really stepped up their game in the last few months. Out of the last 92 days, I’ve had a migraine for 75 of those days. So, yea…it hasn’t been very fun and I have been focusing on just trying to survive and get through each day. But, luckily I have an incredible medical team that is with me on this journey so hopefully we will get them managed better soon. ❤️🙏❤️ The little drawing that I have been doing is more on the melancholy side of things and lots of Bluey themed art too (coming soon to an instagram near you). This particular sticker is showing our inner child never letting go of their love of unicorns. Please know, you are never too old to adore unicorns and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. This sticker is available in my shop which is linked in my bio. Finish lines, medals and fairytales 💙 Your race is your final lap. Please please train 🌟 it is a lifetime experience… but when you do not train… it is simply not enjoyable at all. There is no guarantees in a race, but at least you can arrive prepared for what you know. The hardest part for me of Dopey, was the four consecutive mornings of waking up. I was at the parks, nervous and anxious and sleeping minimal hours. I remember seeing mile marker 4 and my eyes were closing. I was so exhausted. It wasn’t even my legs. Yes it’s at Disney, yes it’s fun, yes you have a lot more people around you… but the miles are still the miles. So you’ve signed up for Marathon weekend, now what?!! Honestly I can encourage and motivate the runDisney out of you… but the truth is you will need to KNOW your body. Put the work in. And ask the professionals! While we want to think pixie dust can carry us… miles are still miles… yes they are absolutely magical but the work still needs to go in. Train to pace, train outside, follow a plan. And I highly suggest if anything is hurting at the moment, get it looked at, address it now… go to a PT, talk to your doctor. Furthermore If you don’t know where to start, I highly suggest a running coach, I know my friend @laurafrye_nyc has a few spots open… I’ll be giving you updates on what’s working for me but remember it’s what works for me. I’ve spent a long time getting to know my body and I have my team of professionals to help me. Have fun. Believe in it. Do the training. Happy Wednesday!! Alright y’all now that most of us have settled down… Just here to tell you… your feelings are valid. Yesterday was unlike any other registration day I’ve ever been a part of. It’s heartbreaking to not get the race entry you were hoping for. It’s a huge decision to some of us, we set our hearts and minds and to not get in, well it sucks. It may feel like a first world problem to some, and to others it leads them to say well there’s always next year, or there’s other races… However I’ve learned there’s so much meaning behind each race. Some have been preparing for years… others had to miss this year due to unforeseen circumstances and personally Disney races keep me motivated and moving. #medalmonday On Saturday I ran the @rhoderacesri Newport Half Marathon. It was the first time I used the @jeffgallowayolympian Run Walk Run method. Coach @christwiggs created a custom training plan that prepared me and got me to the finish line injury free with a smile. The 1:57:28 official chip time was 11:31 faster than my last half marathon in October. It was also the first time getting back under 2 hours since having kidney cancer surgery in Nov 2020. The little girl inside of me… the one who couldn’t breathe. The one who lost her friend to an asthma attack at age 11… the one who spent countless hours in the ER because my airways were blocked… Just dreaming of chasing unicorns. While the virtual wasn’t what I wanted it to be… it still meant so so much. This year my focus is to get to Boston 2023… through a charity of course but still a big big dream nonetheless. Wow, I'm exhausted after our conversations this morning! I say conversations...it was more just her talking at me at 100mph while I threw in the occasional "uh-huh, sure". Seriously - this girl can talk. And there's no logical thread to her conversations either.
