Hi, bookworms! Happy Monday to you all! How has your week started? I'm feeling extra sleepy tonight and partly it's due to the weather; it's chilly again. I have many, many plans for May but one thing is the most important — to refind my connection with nature. As of late, I've gotten stuck in bit of a hustle and when I get home at the end of the day, I can't even think of hiking or going on a stroll because I'm exhausted. All I want to do is sleep or take a nap. I miss my adventurous side and the childlike joy I get from simply seeing a bee, a butterfly, any wild animal really and sitting by the running river. I need to get it back soon, otherwise I'm doomed. So, this week's plan is to go on a long bike ride, do a picnic and dance in fields. I've been busy with my babysitting job as well as trying to get back my love for writing and this current month is dedicated for fanfics so my mind can ease a bit. I have some household things to get done and I've already dealt with two migraines(how am I even alive lol), so I want to enjoy it as much as I can. It's no secret that I tend to be very self-critical and not see nor notice how hard I'm trying, sadly it's part of my childhood trauma and is not fun to work through in my 20's. I didn't manage to post on Monday because I had no time to take pictures last week and since getting this babysitting job, I've felt a bit overwhelmed with life. I also had a lovely church trip to Riga last weekend and enjoyed so much needed quality time with my favorite souls. Now, I'm stuck on bedrest as the weather has turned and my feet got wet on Tuesday so I woke up with a small flue yesterday and today it's gotten even worse. Hi, bookworms! Happy Wednesday to you all! I hope you're doing well! Okay, I usually don't do separate posts for my (current) favorite reads but this one needs it, so let's go: . The House In The Cerulean Sea is such a sweet, cozy and heartfelt book and while I'm halfway through it, I do not want it to end. I wish I could step into it, have a meal or simple chat with all the characters and experience the magic of the island they live in, it is all I daydream about right now. It's lovely because I haven't felt this way about a book in a long time and the thought of that brings tears to my eyes. Oh, how I love reading and how it makes me feel, giving me exactly what I need(no matter how deep in my soul it's buried). If you're on a hunt from a fantasy tale about a bunch of special "kids", their caretaker, grumpy caseworker who stays with them for a time being, all the adventures they'd see and do even and truly, the sweetest found family (re)telling I've come across this year so far then this could be it. It already has healed me in ways I never hoped it would and maybe, just maybe it'd do the same for you. . Hi, bookworms! Happy Monday to you all! How has it started for you? I'm taking things extra slow as I still have a cough but that won't stop the writing sprints I have planned for this week. I recently decided to take part in a Novella Contest and am working on a haunted library story that hopefully soon finds its way to Wattpad. I don't usually share the details or even every day struggles of being a writer, but I'm open to it. That's why I wanted to share some facts, so here it goes: . 1. I've written since I was 12(first short story at 10) and it has become a big passion of mine ✍️ 2. I mostly write in my native language, Estonian but have a few in English(including over 350 poems). 3. My preferred genre to write in is high fantasy, of course I've tried others over the years but it's what's closest to my heart(who doesn't love fairies, trolls, hobbits, and dragons???). 🐲 4. At the moment, I have over 7 unfinished WIPs and one of them I want to publish as a physical book(which I have shared with you on here). 5. My very first story that I shared online was about a deaf girl and the traumas she went through. 6. I am writing fanfiction for my favorite series such as Young Royals, Anne With An E, Heartstopper etc. & 7. I'm writing songs(playing Kalimba too) 🎶 . For my lockdown activity I’ve been doing something a lil different. I’ve been planning and prepping and collecting for it for ages though. Printing leaves onto fabric! 🍁 🍃🌿 . I’ve been collecting eucalyptus leaves when ever I’m on my travels, and for a few weeks now I’ve had a lovely bucket of water and steel bits going rusty outside. I’ve been dyeing fabric with kitchen waste for ages now so I have plenty of fabric to work with. . A brief step by step for anyone who’s interested: 1. Soak some leaves in rusty water with some vinegar for 30 minutes or so. 🪣 2. Lay out on scoured and mordanted fabric (I used cotton with a soy milk mordant) 🍃 3. Roll up tightly around … anything really, I used pvc pipe off cuts, but dowel or even a stick would work. I put a layer of plastic to prevent bleeding between layers. 🫔 4. Steam in a pot for 🤷♀️ a while? I did three hours then let it cool and sit over night. 4. Unroll to reveal the magic! ✨ 5. Neutralise with a bit of baking soda in water then rinse thoroughly. 💦 6. Then do what ever you want with it!
